I absolutely love watching professionals talk about their passions. Dr. Dan, your face is like a child at Christmas--it is beautiful. This is a fascinating subject. I think it is a bit beyond me, though--I am not quite into frequencies and resonances like that. It is possible this is something that will come back to me as I start my journey back into vocal health and, eventually, singing.

I watched this post attentively and there is just so much shared knowledge here, I really am grateful to both of you for taking the time to share and bring light to a very new aspect for me to consider in my approach to singing. I have been singing for years but this is so clearly put and easy to understand. I have yet to buy the books but they are on my to-do list. groundbreaking scientific knowledge.Superbe!

Wow, this adds a new dimension for me to think about and listen for. While I can't absorb it all, I feel the concept of an under vowel and an over vowel explains some of what I hear in my own voice sometimes when a vowel note sounds, well, "cheap" or incomplete. So there's more than one component, even to a seemingly simple vowel.

I saw the talk of Kenneth on Pevoc Copenhagen last year, and it was amazing. Thanks for making this video, his research helps us all voice coaches around the world, and it is so very useful. I as well have a singing channel but it is in Spanish were I train and share valuable content for everyone who wants to keep growing on voice technique, and io always enjoy finding new channels that add value to this singing world. God bless, and all the best!

During my first Android App voice training based on KZbin, i had difficulty coz these teachers were male baritone and female. I ended up damaging and stressing my voice as their exercises were baritone level. Then i pass by Dr. Dan's KZbin videos and it seems I'm comfortable with his level. Then i found out I'm a tenor, maybe a counter tenor coz i can do a bruno mars pitch (pretty much Michael Jackson also). I did a android app pitch analyzer and my highest is g6 and g#6 and lowest is g3. I did sung funky town of Bruno Mars in one karaoke bar with friends with no hassle including the high pitches. In my high school days I was tagged as baritone precisely because i was a soccer player and i stressed much my neck in an attempt to gain strength and a wrong workout method of holding breath that it tenses my neck muscles until i see Dr. Dans youtube on how workouts strains our voice. But a shhh breathing will lessen the load if Really working wasn't an option. Had to add, I did surpassed our valedictorian in elementary school in Music in the finals that she approached me and congratulate me. I learned fast but wasn't keen unto music until lately. Did do some composition with music notes in elementary but ditch it as funny. But stumbling on Debbie Gibson's Documentary of how she started at elementary with a silly composition, i was inspired. Debbie Gibson is my inspiration.

Love the video, but can't help but see the irony. Tough acoustic issues every time you clicked on the website. I think that created a feedback loop. On another note, Pavarotti was labeled the "King of the High Cs", but I read, and I can't remember where...perhaps in Richard Miller's works that he was actually the "King of the Second formant".
