Hi Madeleine, you have helped me understand that I was breathing wrong for probably all of my 56 years and now my whole life is changed! I have Parkinson's, and thought that my deteriorating speech was going to be a life sentence of not being able to communicate. My voice was gravelly and choked out with hiccuppy stuttering, and I hadn't been able to make myself understood for years. I lived in dread of my phone ringing. I discovered that I was breathing with my sinuses instead of deeply into my belly. I have heard for years that the diaphragm was somehow involved with singing, but I couldn't figure it out. Your videos flipped a switch in my life. I haven't quite mastered it, but I am learning how to draw breath down into my belly kind of in front of the diaphragm and relax my throat and vocal cords. I have experimented with the finger clip oxygen monitor thingy in the hospital and watched it go from 90% to 98 or 99% blood oxygen just by slowing my breath and drawing it in like a vacuum bulb that you used in one of your videos. I can sing a little bit better when I am able to relax my vocal cords and throat, but my speech is 1000% better, and that has changed my life!

Madeline not only knows how to sing well but how to teach well. I'm a retired teacher and am impressed with her teaching technique. Thank you.

You dear lady are so awesome on every last video you put out. I don’t have to listen to it first before I like what you do because everything is awesome you do. I really like you it’s like I told somebody else, I think it’s develop into something stronger by now. And as soon as I get enough money I’m coming to you. when it comes down to explaining difficult things what you do is outstanding you make it so simple. In the 80s I knew I could sing but none of the teachers knew what to do. Yes you have tension in the abdomen but they didn’t know how to explain it I kept tension there and couldn’t get a note out and I know I could staying as high as Minnie Rippleton back then I could.

i wish more vocal teachers said the notes they were playing. i'm just not that well-versed in music yet!
@axxwqw31172 жыл бұрын
also i think my tuning app might have standards that are too high because it's telling me you're off key in relation to the piano you're playing (which is showing up as perfect). i also tried the singing carrots website and it was much more positive, saying i actually wasn't as pitchy as tuner-pitched! was saying. most of the google reviews for tuner-pitched! were saying it was helpful for instruments, it was about 1 in 10 reviews saying they used it for vocals with the rest using it for guitar tuning and the like. so uh.. does anyone have any recommendations? 😭
@AeonAxisProductions3 жыл бұрын
so theres a bit of a hearing problem that i have (well voice too but ill explain it) i play guitar, bass, and drums (bass is super simple when you learned guitar first, its almost exactly the same thing) and somewhat backup singing, and i feel like i do at least decently at singing (i dont have the best voice cause theres weird pitches that my vocal chords stop vibrating, but i do the best i can now with that being said when i sing the parts that im doing, i feel like its pretty good when i sing it alone and with no song in the background, but as soon as i try to sing over the audio of the song, the part of my brain that controls pitch just kinda ceases to function lol, like i can sing the parts almost note for note when its acapella, and i just lose all pitch control when singing to a backup track i was wondering if this is a common problem, and what you would suggest i do to remedy it?
