Luxottica tried and failed. That’s why they are still in business and flourishing!

that's why they are doing a private stock option I think the founders really hate luxottica

It's unfortunate this video didn't address how much cheaper other online glasses retailers are than them. For example, I have some prescription glasses that cost about $7.

Friendly eyedoc here! You can only get them that cheap when they are made in China without meeting ANSI spec. You get what you pay for

IMHO if you're still losing 56M on 394M in sales more than a decade later you've only half way made it to success. It's interesting, and worth keeping an eye on, but not the most amazing thing ever.

In India, the experience we are able to deliver to the customers in 'in store shopping' is of higher standard then Online players such as Lenskart.

I believe Zenni disrupted the online glass market place way before Warby Parker did... I just ordered my first pair and will make a review video comparing it to the other well known online retailers soon

Warby Parker's mission: Every idea starts with a problem. Ours was simple: Glasses are too expensive. Our founders were students when one of them lost his glasses on a backpacking trip. The cost of replacing them was so high that he spent the first semester of grad school without them, squinting and complaining. (We don't recommend this.) The others had similar experiences and were amazed at how hard it was to find a pair of great frames that didn't leave their wallets bare. Where were the options? It turns out there's a simple explanation. The eyewear industry is dominated by a single company that has been able to keep prices artificially high while reaping huge profits from consumers who have no other options. . So charging $500.00 for one pair prescription glasses help the cause, really??

Same to same as Lenskart in India. Just like Redmi & Mi mobiles but in Eyeglasses. Quite Interesting 🤔

I love working for a company like Warby Parker - of which I still am and have been for now nearly 5 years. And I can't wait to see where the world of eyeglasses, sunglasses and contacts takes our company. 👓🕶️

I suspect they open offline store to convince the investors that they can be as profitable as other offline stores, since their online business has yet been profitable.

Never heard of them until now and $90+ for frames is still a rip off. They cost little money to manufacturer.

Tbf, it is frame and lenses (for single vision at least). For comparison, I was quoted for frames + ultra high index lenses at a chain eyeglass store for $350 after insurance. Warby Parker was $120 after insurance (the $25 over the $95 was the difference I paid for the high index lenses only.
