John Wall talks about his welcome to college moment, a hilarious story with Boogie Cousins and his burning feet. They also talk about what it’s actually like playing at the University of Kentucky.

I'm a Kentucky boy from the eastern side of the state. It's truly a border state he's saying that bc of the cold weather. It's a northern state in the fall and winter for sure. As far as heritage It's a mixing pot I'm a southern boy but it's truly a mix of the north and south but most people in the south consider tennessee the northern most state bc it was a confederate state

I love hearing this. This is the side of success that most don’t see…the ugly painful aspect of running as many suicides as you can, sprinting, for 20mins. (Anyone who’s played at a minimum high school basketball or any other activity that involves running suicides knows how intense that would be). This excruciating pain behind the scenes with strength and conditioning, combined with talent and intense scrimmages and other competition with teammates is so much a part of high level sports and why it’s utterly laughable for a casual ball player to think that they could outperform a college athlete and especially a professional…this is why Scalabrinie says he’s closer to LeBron than most people on the planet is to him when it came to basketball skills. Without this preparation, imagine how traumatic it’d be playing a basketball team that’s well conditioned and all about uptempo with a guard like Westbrook, D-Rose, Iverson, Muggsy, Nash that’s all about sprinting while the opponent’s thighs are burning and it’s only 3 mins into the first quarter….or even like the Warriors and they’re hitting 3 after 3 and your legs feel like jelly while your coach is on the sideline yelling at you to get the ball up the court and now the other team is coming at you with a full court press and your energy is lower and lower (this is exactly what’ll happen if you don’t run intensely in practice until your motor improves).

Running Rebels were like the Phoenix Suns with Nash and Shawn Marion w/Amar’e in the 00s…except the Rebels were more scarier for opponents because oftentimes they did that against teams that were conditioned no where near their level because they were college (at least the Suns were playing against NBA Teams who all had a somewhat comparable level of conditioning).

A reason not to go to class. I partied with J Wall on Halloween. He was dancing with a white girl and I was dancing with a black girl and we had this what up moment on the dance floor. He almost hit my girlfriend a, few days after they lost to West Virginia, in his brand new Range Rover. If he’d hit her, she’d survived and we’d have more land and a bigger house🤣😂.

I wouldn't say you were more athletic lol, had that been that case you would've devoted more time into sports. I'd say you were a hell of a grinder, which is something that some Pro athletes do not always need because they're so damn athletic and or gifted. You're a special breed nonetheless but you could also have been an extremely hard worker and not had a lick of athleticism.

That has nothing to do with wanting to win a championship in the moment but it also shows they don't want or need that college chip to get paid and let's be honest it's about the pay.
