Yeah, definitely. One part of an interview about this game stood out to me a lot - it was about difficulty (and I'm paraphrasing here) but basically he was like "Miyamoto doesn't like to give the player many options because he wants the core experience to be absolutely perfect, whereas I think that the player should be given as much freedom and choice as possible". That section of the interview was pretty much the motivation for that end bit about him + Miyamoto. Because as much as I love me some Miyamoto, I think Sakurai's perspective about these things is incredibly interesting and sometimes a little better. I mean, I don't wanna pit them against each other because they're both incredibly talented, but I find the differences in their perspectives to be very interesting.
@itsapplepai5 жыл бұрын
Thomas Game Docs I agree! They have fundamentally different ideas about game design, both of which have their tremendous strengths, and neither of which fit together perfectly. I think we still have yet to see Sakurai's very best, where he's truly given been a full set of resources and freedoms.

This video was great! As a die-hard Kid Icarus Uprising fanboy, I'm glad to see content about the game being uploaded. However, I do have one eensy complaint (no problem, really). When that sheet music popped up, I was really expecting the main theme. You see, I'm currently working on arranging every piece in the game for an orchestra, and it would have been wonderful to see the actual main theme to (shhhh...) maybe get a bit of a shortcut. As I'm sure you're aware, that was Palutena's Temple. No hard feelings, I was just a little disappointed, that's all. Thanks for the awesome video. 👍

ahhh i remember when i first played this game. my god was it the best thing ever. i played it non stop, every second i had the chance to play it for a whole week, and luckily i had a week off from school at the time. the gameplay was great and the multiplayer aspect was even greater imo. the amount of weapons you can choose too? hooo boy, you would definitely find one you're comfortable with. you got your long range, close combat, speedy ones, slow ones, hybrids of close and long range but sacrificed for speed and/or damage, and vice versa. i can go on, but you get what i'm saying. the story was ok, nothing mind blowing, but the banter and incredible voice acting definitely made it funner, even if it doesnt fit the atmosphere of literally killing off some of the bosses you fight. granted some do get resurrected, so maybe thats why they can have light discussions with each other. and even with the basic game stuff being awesome, the game's graphics and colors were so appealing and there were still small cool stuff, like the idols (similar to trophies in smash) and the challenge board. (also similar to smash) yeah. this game is hands down one of the best games i ever played, and this might not happen, but im in the camp of waiting for a switch remake, or even better: a sequel.

The difficulty slider is something a lot of games have been using. That doesn't mean one copied the other, but rather that it's a system that works really well. However, I do see one flaw with it. It doesn't encourage people to try higher difficulties enough. If someone sees themselves as a bad player, they won't try harder difficulty levels. I know that one from experience. It would be interesting if a game used the system in combination with another mechanic. It would let you pick the difficulty at the start of the game or level, but the game would then dynamically adjust the difficulty to meet the player where their true difficulty lies. Maybe it could even challenge them a little. And then at the end it would show a graphic of how the difficulty was dynamically adjusted throughout the level. It would give players a better idea of their strengths and weaknesses, as well as encourage them to try the higher difficulty. Games often dynamically adjust difficulty already. Making it more transparent would just make it a lot better. And it would be perfect for making players more skilled at the games
@j-rex2292 жыл бұрын
You get better rewards with a higher difficulty, I think that's a good enough incentive. Plus the game recommends you a difficulty based on your performance on previous chapters.
@BeepBoopBee2 жыл бұрын
@@j-rex229 Ah, I'm just discussing the idea of someone making a new game with this difficulty mechanic. A combination of a difficulty slider and a dynamic difficulty mechanic. People are asking how old Pit is. Kid Icarus: Uprising was created in 2012. Since Pit defeated Medusa 25 years from 2012, that would take place in 1986-1987 and since he has the appearance of a 13 year old, it's safe to assume he was born in 1973-1974 making him now 45-46.

The dialogues, if localized, certainly make the action more engaging, but for those who are not native speakers of English (especially considering the very fast dialogues) and had to read subtitles during flying fights, it was really inconvenient (and already the control was peculiar). You inevitably missed something of the speeches and distracted yourself from the struggle. I don't know if Sakurai expected more dubbing versions, but I don't agree with his choice. However, it remains an excellent undervalued game.
