My grandmother actually introduced me to this series due to her love of puzzles. I love the prof layton games a lot. And surprisingly, so did my country, the Netherlands. During the ds/wii era, getting a game dubbed to dutch was extremely rare, almost unheard of really, only for big AAA games or literal baby games. But because Layton sold so well in the Netherlands, all sequels got dubbed into Dutch. Which was honestly pretty great, since in the first game I had trouble with some puzzles simply cause of unknown english terns.

@@ThomasGameDocs On the flipside, I was a bit shocked to hear for the first time the British voice actors for the main characters. My parents had bought for me Eternal Diva (a really amazing animated film that's part of the Layton canon- have you seen it?), and the English dub involved only the voice actors for the UK version. So after getting surprised by Luke's drastically different voice, I researched and found out that the US version is just a fake cockney accent. Not sure why they hired Americans to voice British characters in the first place. Now I can't unhear the fakeness in US Luke, especially as I absorb more British media. Although, one criticism I have for the UK version is that Luke sounds far too young for his age, and frankly sounds too girlish. That's interesting to hear that Emmy sounds just fine to British ears, even though it's the same voice actress. If she did get accent training later on, though, why didn't Luke's voice improve?

NDS is one of my most beloved game consoles, with Professor Layton being one of my favourite games on the platform. So I really enjoyed finding out more about how the game was created. If there's one thing I thought was missing it's that the localized versions of the games did take away many of my favourite puzzles from the Japanese versions. Mostly puzzles with word solutions (where you write the answer in hiragana). It'd be cool to hear why though I guess the extra work to adapt to writing the answers in alphabet may not have been worth it cost- or timewise. Other than that nitpick, great job on the video! When I had gotten a used red one off of Ebay. And I remember going to Target. To get a game for it. And I remember as I was looking at the ds games there. I remember that one ds game. I remember seeing a commercial for it a few years before. But I couldn't remember the name of the game. But I did remember the one character in the game wore a top hat. And when I saw the game call Professor Layton. I remember that this was the game I saw the commercial for. And ever since getting that game. I have a huge love for those games ever since. Mainly because they are puzzle games. And I just love puzzle games. Now I have every single Professor Layton related game there is for my ds and 3ds. And it was just last month I bought the Curious Village game for my iPad. I so hope the other ones comes to the iPad. And July of last year I bought Layton's Mystery Journey: Katrielle and the Millionaires' Conspiracy for my iPad. I also have it for my 3ds as well. I also have that Ace attorney and Layton 3ds game. It was given to me by a family member that, and I quote, "Found it in the shop and thought you might like it." And I did, I did very much, Curious Village and Pandora's Box were my favorite games on the DS, then I got Specter's Call and Unwound Future (that I cried at quite a lot). Fast forward 3 years later, I get a 3DS, and the first thing I ask for is Miracle Mask. Yes, it's my first game on the 3DS, and I absolutely love, then I got Azran Legacy which took me a while to finish mainly because I was not ready to end the whole series yet. Then I went on to watch Eternal Diva and play Layton Brothers I think was for the android, then I got Layton's Mystery Journey aka Katrielle Layton, and it was fantastiic! All in all, Professor Layton was an unforgettable journey, and I loved and enjoyed it all through out.

How about Phoenix Wright next? :)
@ThomasGameDocs6 жыл бұрын
Definitely planned! Phoenix Wright is probably my favourite game so I want to make sure I do it justice (for all). So yeah, it's planned but maybe for a little while in the future so I have time to get better at making these videos first.

@@ThomasGameDocs maybe mention AAI2 and DGS 1 and 2?
@ThomasGameDocs5 жыл бұрын
I tend to only focus on a single game in a series, or occasionally two games, for these videos. The Ace Attorney video will almost certainly be just about the first game - that's because 1) the video will already be around 17 or 18 minutes covering just that game, and I really don't want it to end up any longer, and 2) lots more people will know about / have played the first game than any others, and I want the video to be accessible to as many people as possible! For what it's worth, I really love AAI2 and look forward to playing DGS 1 once the fan translation's done!

I started playing Professor Layton way after the DS boom. I'm pretty glad. I don't think I would have appreciated it at the time but I love it now! I wish they would make another series like this.

I grew up playing the professor layton games. They were my favourite things to play on the DS and I fondly remember replaying the lost future from the final save point to rewatch the ending. Damn, those games were great It's a shame only four of them still supported play on the original DS and instead began moving to the newer ones

It’s so nice (and kind of surprising) to see such a well made informative video on a series by Level-5! Would you ever consider doing a video like this on any of their other series (such as Inazuma Eleven or Danball Senki)?
@ThomasGameDocs5 жыл бұрын
Hmm, for now I'm mainly sticking to games I've personally played / know of, but I'll certainly look at to them at some point in the future. My main problem at the moment is having too many ideas and not enough time to actually make them, so I have a pretty huge backlog!

My mom gave me the first Layton for christmas. I expected it to be nothing good, cause it was just some random thing my mom picked without knowing anything about games - boy was I wrong. I played all the titles in the series, and so did my mom - who had never touched a game console before. My favorite is the Unwound Future.

Thank God that Nintendo Europe managed to get their design approved. Been a layton fan since its release! It's so weird when I see my two slots per game that I'll never delete (my play trough where I managed to solve every puzzle and the slot of my best friend) and they date to 2007 to 2013. It's so weird
