I’ve also started young answering questions matter of factly. My young daughters see my period happening and I tell them what is going on. My boys knew early where babies come out of. They know all the anatomy. We talk openly about pornography and how damaging it is. We talk about body safety and tricky people. Etc etc. It’s so important just to have the conversations even if it feels awkward at first!

I also feel like it’s important to answer the questions as truthfully as appropriate to let the kids know that you will always be truthful, making it safe to come to us.

This is one of the hardest subjects to discuss so thank you for this wonderful guidance and resources. I was not brought up in church or received any guidance. I only found the lord and was saved in my 30s and have been learning right there with my kiddos. Enjoy this last week of Feb! Spring is right around the corner!

You are such a neat mom. Your kids are very lucky. Thanks for sharing you wisdom with a mom of Little's. We've had talks since my kids were old enough to notice body differences. They know A LOT for their age, but not all. This was really helpful

Thank you so much!! That’s wonderful your kids have asked a lot of questions! Are they satisfied if you have to say, “you’ll know more later?” 😜 I have had to tell my kids at times, “Just enjoy your childhood! I’ll tell you more when the time is right!” (Sometimes that’s not necessarily about puberty, etc but just knowing real life issues going on with people) BUT…back to this.. I was just thinking the other day how comfortable my daughter is even with talking about some things in the presence of my husband. I would never been MORTIFIED to speak of any of this in front of my dad. So then knowing a lot (through their question asking and us answering) and being homeschooled has created an environment where our children are totally open with us. I think it’s an amazing opportunity!

This is such a helpful video. My kids are even younger than yours but I’ll definitely follow your path of wisdom. I also think it’s so important to talk with girls & track their ovulation cycle as they are getting older and possibly into the age where they become interested in boys, as it can be extremely difficult to make good choices during ovulation.

I cannot Thank You enough for doing this video! I rarely ever comment on videos yet felt compelled to do so with yours. The fact that you are bravely putting this out there with such conviction is so refreshing and inspiring to say the least! I love the sincere intention behind your thought process & your desire to truly help and serve in sharing God's design and desire for us. I have been searching and searching for biblical ways to approach this very delicate and challenging topic with my children and feel so incredibly blessed to have stumbled across your channel. (I first found you regarding your input on CC for challenge (thank you for that video too, as I was struggling with things I could not quite place my finger on and you help me narrow that down into words)). I have found TGATB Maturation that I plan to implement but I SO appreciate your input on the supplemental books and the sermons are an added bonus. Most importantly, your encouragement and approach are exactly what my heart needed to hear. "Liked" and subscribed- I look fwd to more, thank you and God Bless you and your family! 🌻~Amy

I'm so thankful to have found your channel a couple of weeks ago! I value and sympathize with your biblical stance and courage in boldly sharing it! I haven't heard of a lot of these resources, so thank you for sharing them. We have 14 & 12 y.o. daughters and a son who is almost 10. I think we started the talks a little late, probably because neither my husband or myself had conversations like these with our parents. I was not raised up in the Bible, so I have plenty to be afraid of my kids asking me, but I'm learning to walk forward in faith and do the right thing for my kids sake. Have you done a video on how you approach smart phones or video games with your kids? I'm really blessed by your insight and experience, so thank you!!
@OurHOMEschoolPlan

It’s never too late that Gods grace can’t cover you! I think I was raised like you. We just didn’t talk a lot about this stuff so it was uncomfortable for me, the child, to bring it up. But now you get to be the parent and change it. 😉 I haven’t done a video on smart phones, etc. and I may not bc I don’t have any clear path on this one. It’s so hard to navigate bc this online works is very different than what we grew up with. My 15 yr old does not have his own device. He has a gizmo watch (I showed it in the video for teen gift ideas) the watch only allows calls and texts for a select group. But it’s how my husband and me can keep in touch with him if he’s away from us without giving him full access to a phone. We does have access to his computer and we monitor that closely. There are many software programs you can put on the computer to monitor that but we don’t have one. I want one though. In this area, I pray a lot. There are so many forces against us, it feels hopeless to fight then. But that’s if I were fighting alone and I know we have an advocate that in Jesus who cannot be defeated in any battle he’s engaged in. So I pray frequently for my children protection.

@@OurHOMEschoolPlan It is absolutely a polarizing topic, BUT we NEED to talk to our children about all of this! Like you said, if WE don't the world most certainly will. We start very early with our kids talking about things at an age-appropriate level & then going from there. I hate that this is such a taboo subject for so many parents/families. We left a big evangelical church because the youth group had many teens dating. Teens would snuggle during youth group gatherings and sneak in corners of the church kissing. When I brought it up I had many “Christian” parents shrug their shoulders and say oh its just snuggling. We left and now go to a traditional biblically based church;)

I think I showed a pamphlet in the video you could get some screenshots of that have more resources on it. I don’t have that pamphlet anymore and it’s not online. The doctor/nurse (male dr for the guys, female nurse for the girls) just basically explain the biology in an age appropriate way but they do use drawn images. And then somebody else discussed the Biblical aspect of purity. I think a church leader. And that type of thing is in the resources I think the pamphlet has on it. I know passport to purity is one.

I hit puberty during the summer between 9th -10th grade. My parents taught me about sex and where babies come from when I was 4. Public school taught sex ed when I was in 9th grade. Public school separated us in to gendered groups, too. All this was done in Health Class, but it was more about scaring us than encouraging purity.
@OurHOMEschoolPlan
@OurHOMEschoolPlan 2 жыл бұрын
Scaring….that’s very true. But since public schools can’t teach about God, there’s no leg to stand on about purity. At that point, it would just be opinion. That’s where it ends up when you take God out of the equation which honestly, is why so many now embrace the idea that marriage “is just a piece of paper” so why do we need it? Because they’ve taken God out. They don’t even understand the purpose for marriage. And really, they don’t truly understand love. Which is also why the divorce rate continues to increase. The love of Marriage Isn’t based on emotions or even attraction. They may be a part of it. But the highest form of love is Agape, which is self-sacrificing and it comes from God. Which is where the Ecclesiastical verses come in…..a three cord strand is not easily broken because that third cord is God interweaved through the man, the woman, and the marriage. I digressed a bit….but there’s so much the world doesn’t even understand about love and marriage.

We already did this and I'm pretty horrified to watch this because our talk was in not a book method and went in a direction I never saw coming. I did prepare lol- ohhh it was something Ill never forget. Ok here goes nothing... Ok so I did it all wrong, I was cart then horse my whole life, do and ask later- but I had zero guidance SO I am doing everything and more to make sure they know their worth and value, having mom and dad in their life loving them... the talk has settled and all is calm (they were horrified lol) and well we are not discussing purity and kisses yet. I get the boundaries so far away that you are safer than sorry but I need to find where I sit with all that and what I teach. Also knowing that those I saw taught this approach had it backfire dramatically in the spirit of rebelling. I think their is a balance and a understanding. Thinking through carefully is likely going to be my approach.... Whew. Kids! Going to pray on it.

Not a book method??? I’m not sure I know what you mean. You’re horrified bc of the questions you got, I’m assuming? I have a very curious middle child and when we started getting into “details” of things, I just went with the questions. My eyes did get big. But I figure, I’d much rather her head the truth from me than explore her curiosity elsewhere. So I’ve always been very open about whatever my kids ask. (I give the least amount of info as necessary, but if they keep asking for more detail, I’ll keep answering. 😁)

@@OurHOMEschoolPlan I have been way open too but they never put any of the answers together so it was a shocker on the day of our talk. I meant book method because they have all these books that you can read that explain everything for you. I guess like your doctors but in a book-read together method. Looking back, maybe we should have but I think they would have had the same reaction. They have had 101 questions since and all are answered but that day is etched in my head for forever.
