Interesting that these people think they can get around the laws of thermodynamics. This isn't a freight train, or anything even close.
@FoolOfATuque
@FoolOfATuque 2 күн бұрын
@@jimurrata6785I think you misunderstood the reasoning for all this. It’s about creating efficiencies that can’t exist with a traditional ICE vehicle. An internal combustion engine is typically efficient at a certain RPM. Variable RPMs like when you’re rowing through gears is quite inefficient. So they shoot for that RPM when designing the generator which maximizes efficiency. So the engine in the final truck will run at a constant rpm. Which lowers fuel consumption. That’s benefit 1. In a traditional ICE vehicle you have brake pads that turn the energy you put into getting the vehicle moving into heat. Hybrids have electric motors on their axles. A motor that is spun by the wheels will generate electricity which recovers some of the energy instead of losing it to heat and also creates drag slowing the car. This is called regenerative braking. That’s benefit two. When you’re running a traditional ICE engine you also idle at stop lights which is very inefficient. This design will eliminate that since it has electric heat and AC. It’s not about defying the laws of thermodynamics. It’s about making a system more efficient.
@jimurrata6785
@jimurrata6785 2 күн бұрын
@@FoolOfATuque I understand that. It still doesn't change the idea of turning motion into electricity and electricity into motion. There's absolutely no way that this can improve on traditional ICE found in loco's

I used to always wonder about this when I was a kid when Prius and other hybrids were all the rage. You guys are putting in the work and it's amazing how much more thorough you seem to be than the big manufacturers and how great it is that you're willing to attempt this. Manufacturers are after that dollar. They really couldn't care about emissions unless there was good money to be made at someone else's expense. If this could be sold as a lot for trucks I bet you could sell a bunch because I know for one that there's plenty of people out there who have good trucks they've had for a long time they don't want to replace with new who are worried that the EPA branch of the SS will make vehicles we currently own illegal due to emissions when it's really about control.

I do engineering in HVAC controls making buildings more efficient. Finally someone is working on something that's actually feasible for transportation. The electrical needs of a fleet of Tesla semi trucks is enormous. You would need a power plant for a large truck stop to charge them. Go look at the size of the transformers at these car charging stations. It might even be larger than the transformer that feeds a commercial building. Infrastructure and battery storage wise we are no where close to going full electric. Diesel electric is the way to go between now until battery technology improves. It's the only way to go for long haul trucking, mining, shipping, etc. I'm really surprised large manufacturers aren't doing more research into this.

I really like this project. If you ever do something in the states, as far as building these trucks, I would be interested.

Absolulty love this project and the concepts! Thank you for taking the time to test all of the variations. Intriguing to say the least. I know the E-axles are designed to work with the heavy duty truck sector but i'm curious if this application would work on the heavy duty van sector as well? E250/350 sprinters etc. Might not have the engine area? Love to hear your thoughts. Best of luck as the project developes!
