Love the fish rack idea. I bet it saves a lot of stress on the fish because they are not getting picked up and moved around constantly. Thanks for sharing!

Really interesting- thanks for the behind the scenes! Love that you put a picture and description of the fish you are offering. I get frustrated at swaps as a beginner because I often don’t know what some of the bagged fish are and have no idea what they really look like. I end up spending a lot of time on my phone frantically trying to look things up before they are snatched up by someone else!

Interesting! The swap I went to last year is happening again in August in Schenectady NY,the really good thing is it’s growing. A certain U-Tuber from New Jersey is coming so maybe some day the Professor and Farmer Jo might show!

That was absolutely fascinating to me. We don’t have anything like that in the UK in fact dedicated fish stores are few and far between sadly. No local fish clubs either. I wish it was like it is over there. My local fish store is part of a garden centre over 30 minutes drive away. I do have some very happy memories of going fish hunting in dedicated fish stores with my dad when I was a kid though.

I had planned to go to the swap, then my grandson tested positive for Covid and that was that. He's fine, but I had spent some time with him and staying home was the right thing to do. It looks like it was awesome! Will definitely try to go to the next one and also to Chicago Aquashella.

That was very cool to see. Thank you for sharing! I will sell fish at my aquarium society meetings, and catching the fish beforehand is the worst part! I start 6 hours before I need to be at the meeting LOL. Some days you get lucky and catch them fast, others not so fast 🤣

Hello, since you have so many tanks, have you ever tried setting one of them up with an anoxic plenum just to try it out?
@PrimeTimeAquatics2 жыл бұрын
I haven’t yet. So many of them are stocked with cichlids that either have heavy bioload or dig (or the tank has the potential to shift in that direction).
@onlywei2 жыл бұрын
@@PrimeTimeAquatics isn’t that the ideal use case for anoxic? You can’t have too many plants with those kinds of cichlids, so anoxic denitrification can be used to control nítrate a instead!

Thanks for sharing this video. I was disappointed that I could not come this month. Gas has been a killer this summer. It looks like there was a very good turn out. Are you planning to go to the GCCA rare fish auction on 8/14? Their next public swap is 9/18. Those are always great! That Hilton is such a cool place for a swap. Do you know if they still do the Livebearer Society auction after the GCCA swaps? Next month (8/21) is Greenwater's Anniversary Celebration. It should be a great time!

I have a question, is it okay that the sponge filter at 3:24 has very little bubbles?? Would it really even function properly like that?? Many thanks

Not ideal - we catch stuff like that doing filter maintenance every week though so it’s running at a better speed now!

Where do you pre order fish and do you have to be a member of the club to buy them?
@PrimeTimeAquatics2 жыл бұрын
You can pre-order at primetimeaquatics.com. I usually have them up about 4-5 days before the swap. Nope - don’t have to be a member and there is no entrance fee either.

@johncameron41942 жыл бұрын
How many of these do you do? Is there a guarantee on fish? Do you sell all the fish you bring?
@PrimeTimeAquatics2 жыл бұрын
They run monthly and we are there most months. We QT all of our fish for four weeks before we bring them to swaps to maximize success. It’s rare that there are problems, but when there are we work through it. Since I keep the fish for four weeks to make sure they are eating and disease free that reduces the chances tremendously that fish would be sick. Yes. If we bring it we sell it. It’s rare that we bring fish home with us - we usually sell out.
