Hi! We received lots of comments about the exact file setup. Long before we released this video, we did a tutorial on this: kzbin.info/www/bejne/rZOpmXV4a6mXfac - This video is intended to be a more general overview of the process. :-)

Wow, so much detail! Thank you for sharing the process! I am hoping to be able to do something similar someday. However, I was watching other videos by artists that use vectors. So I wonder how common vectors are vs. hand-drawn. I guess you have to have a really steady hand to be able to do what Maggie does. I also saw some info on the web that I should be careful about transparency on the borders of images. Is this a problem with DTG? Thanks for any insight!

Just stumbled upon your channel yesterday, and I gotta say, absolutely great information. I’ve watched a few videos now , and sorry If I’m asking a question that’s been explained in one i haven’t watched yet. But I’m using procreate exclusively, I downloaded the templates for merch by Amazon , started a new canvas 4500x5400 @ 300 dpi and imported the tshirt template into that canvas ,which was quite. A bit smaller then the canvas , if I had to guess about a 6th of the size .how do I adjust the template to fit size requirements and still maintain the capability of seeing the design on the template? I seldomly use the whole canvas and want to maintain the design center on the canvas in regards to placement on the shirt . Am I just overthinking this ? And just keep it centered of canvas and everything will be good when uploaded as long as I’m using proper dimensions ? The only reason I’m questioning it is the fact that when I imported the template it was so much smaller then the canvas dimensions.. sorry hope that makes sense . Again thanks for All the great content

Thanks, cool channel! I came to see how to set up file size for this like some of the others so thanks for linking to the other video for that. I like how Maggie broke down the workflow regarding layers. Similarly, I’ve seen some other artists use a smaller file for greater number of layers then take that finished pieced together sketch to a larger file for the final inking and coloring. Nice work

Hi Kali! Thanks for the tip! When you love to draw detailed design in a printable size, there are really never enough layers... ;-) Sometimes I also vectorize my procreate designs on the iPad, i also did a short tutorial about this: kzbin.info/www/bejne/bpDMhYuYbtqWmqs This also helps, because then I can draw smaller designs with more layers. And once I am done I vectorize them to enlarge them without quality loss.

Love your video. I’m new. My question, can I do the same using an iPad or do I need to have iPad Pro to export images to redbubble or merch by Amazon? Thank you
@DTGMerch4 жыл бұрын
Hi Joseline! I believe you can do it on every device that uses Procreate. In my opinion, the best are all iPads that are compatible with the Apple pencil, because it is great to draw with it. But you can also use Procreate on others without the pencil. So, it does not have to be an iPad pro model. I also have a iPad mini and it also works like a charm.

Hi I can see the minty cool aqua green on this design, I have had some samples back from a print company I have used and the could not match the colours it came out dark blue and more turquoise blue, is there an option with a brother gtx printer to stop this happening, I also designed my art in RGB on procreate, I do a lot of tattoo style designs and the mint green is a colour I want to use a lot in the future
@DTGMerch3 жыл бұрын
Hi Leon. Unfortunately, those color changes are very common in dtg printing because color management is not really a thing yet. :-/ But there is a little trick that we use to get a better idea for the printed color, and we are already working on a KZbin video that will explain this. It's going to be part #4 of our T-Shirt design series.

@@DTGMerch that would be great, I look forward to seeing that, I plan on using that mint green colour a lot in the future, the difference from RGB to printed CMYK was miles apart so would be great to see some options around for this, thanks for the fast reply too, appreciate it

if you want to print it out with a transparent background how would you go about doing that?
@DTGMerch3 жыл бұрын
He Prisca! If you want a transparent background, just make the background in the file transparent. Maybe this video we created about transparent background helps? kzbin.info/www/bejne/qabInWisbZ2Xq9E

The first thing you should have talked about is RBG, DPI and size of canvas.
@DTGMerch4 жыл бұрын
Thanks for your good input. The intention of this video was to show the creative process. But things like canvas sizes are very specific to the printer, so we decided to keep this one more universal. But I talk about RGB later in the bonus tips, and we already released a separate video where we explain the exact file setup in Procreate.
