Thanks for the good info… it’s almost as helpful as the color test t-shirts you offer on Amazon! I put 4 in my cart of different colors (white, black, dark heather grey, and the lighter heather grey). However, after reading the one written review, saying that the hex codes are illegible on the printed tee, I’m going to hold off on purchasing until know… would it be possible to get a file of some sort that shows the same colors you used in the test patches, with legible hex codes? It’s a great idea to offer these color test shirts, and I think a lot of POD creators would be thrilled to save a ton of time, in having to create their own test color files. But, if you can’t read the hex codes, they’re kinda rendered useless. I appreciate that you spent a ton of time creating the file, and made it super simple by offering them on Amazon. But maybe it would be even more helpful if you either… 1). Added a downloadable reference to your website of all the color patches/with the hex codes, to go along with the purchased tees. Or 2). Just sold the digital file on your website, so POD sellers can have it printed on whatever garments they plan on working with. Thanks again for the video, I subscribed to your channel several months back:-)

I've experienced bad prints on white tees without a base with DTG printing. It seems like the tees can't hold the ink the well, the graphics look blurry and tend to bleed a bit into the fabric at the edges. Colored tees look much better where a base is used. I have a feeling that with DTG, you may need to put a base under most everything to get a print that's close to traditional screen print quality. Maybe the ink jet head moving back and forth several times on fabric, without a base, makes it difficult to lay a clean print, versus a single pull with screen printing.

Hi, Alan, hope you doing great today! In my opinion, some key issues for you to consider are fabric composition, fabric coatings (like optical brighteners and softeners), and incorrect ink application. Also, are your t-shirts completely dry before printing? While not usually necessary for CMYK-only inks, pretreating white t-shirts can significantly improve results.Without it, white tees can absorb ink more readily, which can lead to blurry graphics and bleeding edges, especially if the fabric is slightly damp, is coated or the printheads are delivering too much ink. However, when using white ink, even just for highlights, pretreatment is essential. Your comment about DTG and Screen Printing is also valid, when ignoring the different types of ink used in each method. Under normal conditions, this issue shouldn't occur. Thank you for your comment; I hope this clarifies the issue!

How to make transparent background
@DTGMerch
@DTGMerch 3 ай бұрын
Hey there! 😊 Thanks for your comment. Here’s a simple guide to help you out: Using Adobe Photoshop Open Your Image: Launch Photoshop and open the image you want to edit. Select the Background: Use the Magic Wand Tool or Quick Selection Tool to highlight the background. Delete the Background: Press the Delete key. You should see a checkerboard pattern indicating transparency. Save the Image: Go to File > Save As and choose PNG format. PNG supports transparency, unlike JPEG. Using GIMP (Free Software) Open Your Image: Open your image in GIMP. Add Alpha Channel: Right-click on the layer in the Layers panel and select Add Alpha Channel-this gives the image a transparent background. Select and Delete: Use the Fuzzy Select Tool to click on the background and press Delete. Export the Image: Go to File > Export As and save your file as a PNG. Tips for Best Results High Contrast: Ensure that the subject and background have high contrast to make the selection process easier. Refine Edges: Tools often have options to smooth or feather the edges, giving a more natural look. Feel free to try these methods and pick the one that works best for you. All the best, e.

Do you have the file that shows the colors available for purchase? From a design point of view we really wouldn't need the shirt just the file of the colors that are available to be printed.

Thank you for your message, and I appreciate your patience as I get back to you. The available colors for each printer will vary based on the specific materials and ink characteristics used. You can create your own colour charts by following these steps: 1. Select the PMS colors you need for the colour chart. 2. Print out the colors using your printer settings and parameters on diverse materials. 3. Compare the printed colors with the desired color shades to see how closely they match. As a result, you can determine how accurately your printer reproduces the colors you need for your project. I hope this information is helpful to you. If you have any further questions or need additional assistance, please feel free to reach out. Best regards, e.

IF IT WORKS IT WORKS AND if it doesn't it doesn't ,and unfortunately dtg fades immediately on white shirts
@DTGMerch
@DTGMerch 5 ай бұрын
Hello @johnnyg2983: Thank you for your feedback! When it comes to direct-to-garment (DTG) printing on white t-shirts, managing fading can be somewhat disheartening until you fully grasp the entire DTG printing process. To prevent fading, some companies may offer special pre-treatment solutions or use specific types of DTG ink designed to adhere better to white fabrics. It's also important to consider the curing parameters used on every print. Conducting wash tests on the t-shirts can help fine-tune the entire printing and curing processes. Additionally, following proper care instructions such as washing the t-shirt inside out and using gentle detergents can significantly prolong the lifespan of the print. I hope this additional information is helpful. Best wishes and take care!

i heard someone say to design in CMYK even if you are uploading the file to print on demand as a .png (which is RGB). so why design in CMYK? because the DTG printer will print with CMYK inks. essentially your RGB design will be converted to CYMK at the end during the printing process. the problem is CMYK is a subset of RGB. all the colors of CMYK are included in RGB. but RGB has more colors than just CMYK so if you design in RGB it is possible to pick colors that CMYK cannot reproduce. meaning your final printed product may not have the colors you wanted it to have if you designed in RGB
@DTGMerch
@DTGMerch Жыл бұрын
Hello dumbcat, thanks for the question. Basically, for DTG printing, both CMYK and RGB are wrong. RGB is for screens, CMYK for printing on white paper. The truth of the colors that DTG can print lies somewhere in the middle and is not standardized. So you can't predict the outcome and you will have color changes. We always design in RGB, because we don't want to limit our available colors and png are in RGB. And we choose the colors based on actual print results, by using our patches and order a print with them from the printer we want to work with and use the HEX-Codes from there. Still not 100%, but closer. You can find them here for Merch by Amazon: White Tees: www.amazon.com/dp/B08YPJJ2KG?customId=B07537H64L&th=1 Dark Tees: www.amazon.com/dp/B08YPFH5HB?customId=B0752XJYNL&th=1
 Basically, everything is wrong, you will never get predictable colors, no matter which one you use. Hope that helps. :)

Be careful! CMYK is not a subset of RGB; in fact, there are a lot of colors inside the CMYK gamut that are outside the sRGB one. In professional printing with coated paper and a lot of other details, sRGB is a subset of CMYK.

Hello, and thank you so much for this very helpful video! I have created my images, saved them as PNG with a transparent background (in Canva, Lunapic, etc.), but when I save them to my PC, they are saved in a black box (even though I saved them as "transparent background"). Then, when I upload them to the print-on-demand sites, the mock-up of the tee-shirts shows a big, black square, with my image in the middle. Do you know how to get rid of the black background (even though it's supposed to be "transparent!"), and just have the transparent image uploaded to the tee-shirt? Thanks so much for any help or advice you can give.

For clarification; here is the definition of both: DPI: dots per inch = refers to the number of printed dots contained in one inch of an image printed by a printer. PPI: pixels per inch: refers to the number of pixels within one inch of an image displayed on a computer monitor. All the best and best regards, Everson

Wow, so much detail! Thank you for sharing the process! I am hoping to be able to do something similar someday. However, I was watching other videos by artists that use vectors. So I wonder how common vectors are vs. hand-drawn. I guess you have to have a really steady hand to be able to do what Maggie does. I also saw some info on the web that I should be careful about transparency on the borders of images. Is this a problem with DTG? Thanks for any insight!

Hello! Thank you for yours videos. I’ve a question: if I take a photo of my art (I work with paper, so the design is 2D and 3D), then upload the photo and edit it (remove the background and add some phrase) to Procreate, then I upload the final design “PNG” to be printed in fabric (to Redbubble, Art of Where, Zazzle) which are the right settings of the canvas on Procreate (RGB or CYMK) in order to have a very close printed colours to the real photo?!! I will really appreciate your answers, I’m lost when it comes to the right settings. I’m asking it because I take my photos, they are very bright in colours but when I sent them to be printed they are very opaque and I don’t know what I’m doing wrong. Thank you so much Armida

I think the only way is to order from different stores, keep the good t-shirts and send back the not so good ones. Just stumbled upon your channel yesterday, and I gotta say, absolutely great information. I’ve watched a few videos now , and sorry If I’m asking a question that’s been explained in one i haven’t watched yet. But I’m using procreate exclusively, I downloaded the templates for merch by Amazon , started a new canvas 4500x5400 @ 300 dpi and imported the tshirt template into that canvas ,which was quite. A bit smaller then the canvas , if I had to guess about a 6th of the size .how do I adjust the template to fit size requirements and still maintain the capability of seeing the design on the template? I seldomly use the whole canvas and want to maintain the design center on the canvas in regards to placement on the shirt . Am I just overthinking this ? And just keep it centered of canvas and everything will be good when uploaded as long as I’m using proper dimensions ? The only reason I’m questioning it is the fact that when I imported the template it was so much smaller then the canvas dimensions.. sorry hope that makes sense . Again thanks for All the great content

DTF can be a great add-on to DTG if you are a garment decorator (i.e. press-on-demand, difficult placements, etc). From the handfeel standpoint, DTG is way better, not only on big prints but also on small ones. When it comes to artworks-blends into fabric, gradients and other effects when you need to use the color of the fabric as part of your art - I don't see an alternative to DTG. The widespread idea that DTG is only applicable for 100% cotton is not true - we print 100% on dark polyester without any dye migration issues or washability problems. DTG printing on 100% polyester has been around for years. Surely it's different than printing on cotton, but it's all down to which equipment you own and how accurate you are on each step of your production process. We actually feel that we got more "space" for DTG now, when DTF came to the market.
