Money transfers are required to declare all transfers overseas because of terrorism money laundering. I use Remitly to wire money to my asawa in Davao been using for over 4 years with no issue's just follow instructions on their site and they have a flat rate which is $2.99 and transfer is done within 6 to 7 days or express which costs $4.99 per transaction and money is transferred with in minutes.

As far as credit cards go, you must notify the bank that owns it that you will be overseas. And even then, there is no guarantee they won't suspend it or call you a lot to see if it is you. For money transfers, I've tried many, and honestly, Western Union normally offers the highest exchange rate. And to get the lowest fees, I transferred from my bank to my gcash, and it's only $2 fee for P50,000 transfer. Gcash is accepted in the Philippines more than any credit card or even cash sometimes due to people not having change. I always check rates, and I find if you can wait, you get the best rate in the middle of the month. As far as schwab, it's for people with a lot of money, really.

thanks for you input on these subjects...lucky me, my wife's family is professional in many areas, one being a manager in one of the local banks, which makes things a bit easier. Medical is taken care of with a doctor/nurse combination, no need for education worries but we have a teacher in the family and of course my wife is Civil Engineer....My bank here in America is always notified when I will be out of country so limits are placed on withdrawals per day. And yes, always a good idea to keep phone numbers handy to call your main bank in case of trouble...

The Philippines has always been a reliable and resourceful ally to the United States during every conflict in south east Asia; I.e. Korean War, Vietnam War, etc. and now, the United States is establishing another United States military base in the Philippines. There are over 20 countries throughout the world such as Latvia, Slovakia, Monaco that can visit the United States without a visa. The majority of these countries have never played an important and supporting role in protecting the United States interest in southeast Asia. But yet, the Philippines, a very important and strategic ally for the United States, is not listed in the visa waiver program. It makes absolutely no sense and is completely unacceptable. What are your thoughts?😅

I dont have to file taxes, because I dont earn more than the 12kusd exemption, I dont get mail here, we can If I want, but my friend in the Us got all mails for me and emailed it to me. hi there..just to mention when i was in there they would not take my 100 dollar us note becoz it had a little writting on it..then we took it to another location and they lady said the note was no longer in circulation..i told her i got the note from my bank and it is a current note. she then said she could take it but then only give me 44 peso rate instead of 55.. i said no thanks. The phillipines is very picky about the notes..so best to have crisp brand new notes.

I am interested in the PH, finding a good Catholic-Church going girl, oddly enough working on a pigsty, living in the provinces (especially the provinces) doing some farming. With the way land is owned in the PH how difficult is it to find a single woman/family that owns a farm and is looking for a proper Catholic son-in-law. I understand Rosemarie worked in the city for 14 years. Age isn't a great consideration. At 58, I have a pension which would be enough to live in a city like Duerte, but I like country life and farming. And finding a good Catholic woman is my goal. I don't mind contributing to a family budget, if everyone is working. Is a situation like Rosemarie's normal, that is, a woman/family with a farm looking for a hard worker to grow pigs, goats, rice, etc.? I have considered working at a call center at first. I have excellent English skills (top university education) and I've worked at several national and international call centers. I'm not looking for American money, just PH wages, as a supervisor I would guess that I could make $25/day with my experience. Are there many Filipinas--age doesn't matter--Catholic ladies available in the provinces, especially the mountain provinces (I spoke with a call center representative in the PH the other day and he was working from home). By the way, I don't mind a woman who doesn't speak English, I can teach her what she wants to know. I want to learn Tagalog, myself. I wish to have a Church wedding. I was married for 25 years until my wife died. I am very healthy and a hard worker. I have no health problems and never had any. I love people and I love family, no matter how large.

Of course that all depends on what type house you want to build all I can do is tell you the house we built in that video cost $25,000 and that included the added expense of having all the materials hauled up the mountain on motorcycles that added about 15 percent more to the cost.

Yes you can but you will have to provide proof of life every year to SS. And banks here are notorious at holding your funds for a long time before they make them available to you. So I don't recommend it. Your Filipino wife qualify with the same rules as American women have to be at least 62 to collect.

My sister tried sending me a package that weighted 6 pounds and they wanted over 400 bucks to send it. There is some shipper that you can fill the box which is quite large with as much weight as you want for around a hundred bucks but only available in certain cities. Thanks again my friend. It's like if you go and get money out of the bank to let say buy a new car and before they will give you the money they ask what do you need this money for you say I'm buying a car. Then they start asking where are you buying this car from, do you know this person your buying it from, how long have you known this person, have you talked to them face to face, where and when did you talk to them, how long did you talk for, have you looked a the car in person, do you know the odometer hasn't been turned back, is this an impulse purchase, how long did you think about buy this car and on and on. Then they say their not going to give you your money until they talk to your wife and the person your buying the car from. Then after all that they still refuse to give you your money because they think you are getting ripped off on it. You get the point everything is a calculated risk in life and in my book it's no risk no reward. And as you can see I won big time with Rosemarie plus even if l had lost that amount of money wouldn't have been a disaster to me.

Hi Randy and Rose, I am in the process of listing my home. I can not get clarification from immigration were you are. I am trying to figure out what documents I need to bring with me to the Philippines. I have read I need things like fingerprints, police check, proof of money and pension, medical and so on, I am confused. I did hear that a visitor visa can be extend up to 3 years. My LDR is 44 and from the provinces. She does not have a lot of money, but has never asked or even hinted at me sending her money. I am wanting to come to her and eventually marry, before my 3 year visa extension ends. She lives on the outskirt of Manila right now. Also how much money can I bring and can I bring Canadian money? How do I get a bank account over there so I can transfer funds from Canada when needed. I also read that when I arrive I need to be able to show a return ticket to Canada, if I can help it I will not return to Canada. So it is a waste of money to purchase a two way ticket. Hi DRM, congratulations. It sounds like you looking up information for many different types of visas. The only thing you need is a valid passport for a tourist visa it's good for 30 days you can extend it at the airport good for another 30 day. After that you will have to go to immigration for extensions and you have to get a alien I'd card when you have been here for more than 2 months they give it to you at the immigration office it's like 40 bucks. After that the longest you can extend you visa for is 6 months up to 36 months then you have to exit it country for 24 hours and you come back and start the process all over again, yes you need a exit ticket within the first 30 days but it can be to anywhere you don't have to go back to Canada. Just find the cheapest ticket you can Hong Kong or wherever it's called a throw away ticket because you never going to use it. You can bring up to 10,000 USD without declaring it. Open a bank account here is a pain. I just use my wife's account. Your best to open an account with a money transfer company like MoneyGram and transfer money to yourself for cash pickup. Yes you can exchange Canadian money but only in the larger cities and only bring fresh bills no tears or much wear on them or they won't take them. You can use your debit card at the ATM machines just make sure you inform your bank that you are going to be in the Philippines or they will flag your card and it won't work. Also the most you can get is $200 per transaction.

It is known to both of them that the 30 or 40 years older guy will be passing before his younger Filipina. But if she is in love with him, he will be cared fore at home till the end.
