Good stuff. I hadn’t thought of a screen reader being to edit videos, brilliant.

While I knew FCP was VO compatible, I was still a bit afraid to give it a try since I had to keep in mind the shortcuts for FCP and the VO commands. Yes it took a little while to combine them both and not stumble around the keyboard, but at least the video shows that it’s possible to do a simple edit with a screenreader.

Thanks Amen. While it’s not a one hundred percent tutorial, I think it can at least show that FCP can be used with screen reading software.

Juan, thank you for sharing! Within the context of your video you also demonstrated another valuable skill for any computer user : learning the keyboard shortcuts speeds your work compared to using the mouse. How you keep track of commands for two apps simultaneously is a super hero skill!
@JuanAlcazar2 жыл бұрын
I’ve been using keyboard commands so much now that when I do end up having to use the trackpad it feels clunky and slow in comparison. Thank you about the superhero skills comment haha. It took me a while to learn both and at first I kept mixing them up.

Thank you for this. As a Final Cut Pro plugin maker, it helps me think about what I can do to make my plugins accessible. By the way, in the section about applying effects, you showed how you use magnify mode. In case you don't know, as well as dragging to apply a clip, you can double-click an effect to apply it to the currently selected clips.

Thank you so much for the comment. Really appreciate you saying that you’ll keep accessibility in mind for things like plug ins. It can be something that might be easily overlooked, especially for editing software which many people might not think that it could be used by blind or low vision individuals. Also, thanks for that tip at the end. I don’t believe I was aware of that.

Thanks so much. The video kind of straddles the line between a general how do blind people do this, and a full blown tutorial, I think it at least gives a good general idea of how FCP can be used by blind and low vision folks.

How do you go about making thumbnails and other visuals? Do you get cited help or do you have a creative way of doing this?
@JuanAlcazar3 ай бұрын
For thumbnails, I believe Tamara gets sighted help. As for me, I use my remaining vision to quickly put something together. So I try to keep my thumbnails simple. I usually magnify the screen and lean in close to make sure the text is where I want it to be.

I thought this was good stuff. Often people ask me how do I read and play music as a deaf and a low vision person. Well, most of it lots of memorization. I learned the basics of braille music such as notes and dynamics. Other than that, I just memorize the music. I start orientation and mobility training soon. Can't wait!

Thanks for the positive feedback on the video. That’s awesome hearing how you go about learning music. I think us disabled folks are the original life hackers since we have to find workarounds on several occasions. Best of luck with your O&M training.
