Sleep training was the best thing we've ever done as first time parents. No one believes us when we say our baby sleeps from 8-8:30 and takes two 1.5 hours naps. No crying, no fussing.. its amazing!

I am an empty nester now, so my sleep training was a long time ago. I did sleep train my six children at three months or 12 pounds. I had a doctor that told us how to do it and when, and that’s what we did. We didn’t have a four-month sleep regression with any of our kids. once they started sleeping at three months they did it for the rest of their lives. we did have problems when they would go through the nightmare stage, but after soothing, they were always able to go right back to sleep. It is so important for you and your babies to get the sleep you need and all are happier because of it. Also, the earlier you sleep train, the faster it goes, and the less time it takes. Do yourselves a big favor and just sleep train. There is nothing wrong with letting a baby cry for a little bit as long as they are not hurt or sick.

Sleep training is absolutely the best thing you can do for both your babies and yourself! My kids are long grown and have children of their own, but I learned with my first child, to put my babies to bed awake so that they learned to go to sleep on their own. That way when they wake up in the night they are able to go back to sleep without having to be rocked or comforted. They sleep so much better and are ultimately happier, as is mom! My daughter became a mom a couple of years ago and has used the TakingCaraBabies course for both of her babies and it's absolutely life changing! Both of her boys, 2 1/2 and 9 months, sleep 12 hours a night and take good naps during the day. They are MUCH happier getting good sleep and momma and daddy are MUCH happier getting a good night sleep as well! Good for both of you for making the hard choices that are best for your babies!

We sleep trained our first and it was incredible. Sadly she got Covid at 18 months and it really affected her breathing for a long while so for her safety we had her sleeping with us to monitor her breathing and well… she never went back . She’s 3 now and still sleeps with us. I’ll be working on that again soon. Now we share a room with her and her baby sister in the bassinet and it’s a crowd in the bedroom 😅

I sleep trained my son at 7 months and did this too but I did 2 mins, 4 mins, 7 mins, 10 mins then 10 until he fell asleep the first night just because I couldn’t make it the full 10! But after 2 nights of doing that he loved his crib and got excited to go to sleep! It made me a better mom getting a full nights rest and knowing my baby slept good too!

Just a comment for anyone reading who decides not to sleep train…your babies will sleep too ❤️ I’m done having babies and they all sleep great and they don’t need me to help them get to sleep. I will never regret those nights rocking or nursing my babies to sleep. It’s a personal choice. No shade to sleep training mamas or any other mama! ❤️❤️❤️

Pediatric sleep consultant here - weighted sleep sacks aren’t the best. Babies who roll now have the extra weight of the sleep sack and may be in a risky situation if they aren’t strong enough to move themselves and the extra weight. Not trying to be Judgy Judy here in any way…just saying, be cautious as it’s not recommended!

my pediatrician literally recommend it. It's so weird ow divided the medical community is on. this? In my case it helped a lot and my 3 year old is an awesome sleeper.

@@dellson8274True, so much baby advice is divided. That's why I say that every family has to do what's best for their family. If it was a huge risk factor, it would be off the market...I would just hate to have these babies be the guinea pigs to find out it actually isn't as safe as it was first thought to be. Also, keep in mind, pediatricians have very few hours learning about pediatric sleep. My pediatrician at the time had told me to just let my son cry himself to sleep when I was a new mom. I had to use my head and realize that wasn't the best advice for my family. While they have more education than new moms, they don't ALWAYS have the best advice. Just keep that in mind.

@@ckolafaable Or better yet, each family should do their own research and look into exactly why the AAP doesn’t recommend sleep sacks to be weighted. Again, I strongly agree that every family should make decisions based on what works best for their situation, I just wanted to bring awareness to those that may not realize it could be a safety hazard.

Thank God I never had to do that. That was not a thing 25 years ago and neither was swaddling until the age of 2. My mom didn't use it and neither did I and we turned out just fine. I couldn't let my baby scream and cry for 45 minutes. At 2 months He just started sleeping through the night for 12 hours. 7 to 7. All kids are different. I'm glad it's working for y'all.

Never used them. My kids slept great without them. It’s such a short time that they keep you up at night. They love the comfort of a parent not a sleep sack and sleep training. They all learn when they are ready to.

Lots of different opinions here but as a mother that had her kids in the 80s I sure wish this was something I knew about. It took my kids two years to sleep through the night. I definitely would’ve tried this if I knew of it.

I have adult kids and this is what I did…we just didn’t have a name for it. I used to sob outside the door (and a couple times my husband found me asleep on the floor outside the door). Sad for a few nights but was the smartest thing. We waited until our kiddos had a little cereal added at night.

There's something wrong with a parent who lets their kid cry for 45 minutes. No parent can see how they're emotionally damaging their kids. It's invisible scars that emerge in adulthood.

I love the Arnold sisters!! I know basically everything about them and adore them so much! But 45 min..... That's not ok. Totally agree with you. it's traumatic for a child to cry on their own for more than 5 minutes. this is a psychological fact - look it up.

I do a more gentler method where I wait five minutes, then go into their room and rub their belly, sing to them etc. then I leave. From there, I wait ten minutes, and go into their room and repeat what I did earlier. I repeat this cycle until they fall asleep, which by the time I go into their room the second time, they are already asleep
