With so many new trucks being so much taller, how do you hook up your 5th wheel trailer? Well, we install a 1" or 2" lift kit to help with clearance. You don't want your trailer hitting the box of your nice pickup.

With everyone interested in this 2" lift block we are making it into a kit available in our store at www.simcoespring.com we now offer kits for Single, Tandem and Tri-Axle trailers. If you have 1/2" Ubolts the torque is around 75-90 FTLbs If you have 9/16" Ubolts the torque spec is around 90-120 FTLbs Links in description.

with the block. If you have the short 2" tall equalizer you can switch them out for the 4" tall ones for more lift.

Seriously questioning the "120 ft. lbs. of torque". I am installing the 2 inch lift tandem axle kit for 3" axles and mushroomed the nuts and bent the U bolts which I now have to go find replacements for.

My full time job is building construction trailers and I'm the running gear guy I have a video of me replacing some axles on my page somewhere but I never blocked a unit that's pretty badass

I'm waiting for another trailer to come in so we can do an axle flip on them. I sold parts to a guy the other day to raise a trailer 7". Unfortunately we didn't install it.

axle flipping is only suited if your leaf springs are mounted under the axle. this is for if your springs are already on top....both have their place. (for everyone else) oh and axle flipping, never "rotate" the axle anyone, that is not what axle flipping is about, it is when you move the mounting position of the leaf springs from one side of the axle to the other.

plasma is good for fabrication and sheet metal torches are used for a larger variety of applications.

Would it not be better to re arc these leafs more to gain the height? Those 4 leaf springs seam quite flat a 5 left set wold be better

you would not be able to arc the leaves to get 2" of additional height. If you installed a 5 leaf spring it would give you additional height, usually about 3/4", sometimes more depending on how old and worn out the old leaf springs are.

Thanks for the video. At the end when you show the leaf springs they look to be straightened out bc of the block how would you alleviate this so the springs are more load bearing. Run a shorter leaf spring? Needing to do this with my car hauler trailer to clear back roads . Thanks

the leaf springs straighten out at the end when we put the load on....mostly because the trailer weighs so much it is putting the leaf springs at about 90% capacity. We designed the blocks to be the exact same size as the spring seat, so that it wouldn't distort or change the way the leaf springs respond to the weight of the trailer.

you need an over/under conversion kit. You would be able to do it with welding new axle seats on the other side of the axle. If you "rotate" the axle, the brakes will be upside down and the axle will be "arched" the incorrect direction and you will wear tires. Awesome. For 2 inches...if I'm replacing tires, should I simply get a 2inch taller tire/wheel combo if clearance is not an issue? Or is it best to lift like you did. Appreciate any thoughts on this. Thanks!

most 3500 lbs axle takes either a 14 or 15" tire. There isn't a "lift tire" available for that axle on trailers. if you have a 5200 or 7000 lbs axle it is a 16" tire. also no possible lift tires. however if you did find a tire that was larger sometimes it is a clearance issue for the tires that you might need the block for. or just to level the trailer to the truck when you have a 5th wheel hookup. Some of the older trailers are lower compared to the newer style trucks. Some trailers have different mounting holes on the hangers for different height adjustments. Some trailers you can just switch the equalizer out to a taller one to achieve a similar lift, some are a morride equalizer which is a rubber equalizer and they can't be changed out for a taller one. the 2" lift block is basically an option for you to lift your trailer if other options are not available. hope this helps.

The pin in the bottom of the block will hold it in place. just torque your ubolts. 1/2" to 90 Ftlbs and 9/16 to 120 Ftlbs and you should be good to go.

Very cool. I'd like to lift our trailer for more ground clearance for the plumbing. By doing this does it add a lot more roll to the trailer?

top heavy roll is one of the reasons why I won't go past 2". Never had any issues with just 2" lift blocks.

Where did you get the blocks? I need to do this to my camper as well but all blocks I find are too wide (2.5”) my leafs are only about 1.75”

I've been making them. I have 2 more kits left in my store then I'm all out. www.simcoespring.com I purchased some new blanks for fabrication but I have not had any time to assemble them yet. (just got them yesterday) I'm hoping that next week I can start doing some basic assembly and get a few more kits together for the store and have some more varieties (for 2.5" axles and 3" axles) Trailer season is coming and I want to get most of them fabricated for then.

yes we have a kit for single axle trailers. You have to have 1 3/4" wide leaf springs Axle diameter needs to be either 2 3/8" or 3" round and the leaf springs have to be on top of the axle - if the leaf springs are under the axle, then you need a flip kit to put a new set of axle seats on top of the axle housing.

I make the blocks here. I've never seen them sold anywhere else before which is why I ended up just making them myself. If you want to raise it make sure you check to see if your springs are on top of the axle first. plus sometimes you can switch out the Triangular Equalizer out from a 2" to a 4" tall one. unless you already have the 4" tall one, then you are just stuck putting the blocks in.

I have a kit available on my website for a 3" diameter axle. However, if you need a kit for a 2.5" diameter axle, I could make one up for you. I do only have 4 kits left and because of the increase in steel prices I probably won't be making these kits again in the future. Just so you know.
