From Single cylinder to V8 Bi-Turbo. Benz remains an inspiring industry in Automotive fraternity. It always triggers people and youngsters to dream ,to innovate, to redefine. New possibilities in this subject. HatssOff to Karl benz & Berths Benz for setting a high benchmark.

Karl died in 1929. Daimler patented forced induction. Don't forget, Mercedes Benz is a brand, owned by Daimler-Chrysler, who bought out Benz. In the 20's and 30's, MB cars were designed by Ferdinand Porsche, Gottlieb Daimler, not Benz.

In 1888 it was unpatriotic to abandon the horses. In 2019 it is unpatriotic to abandon the internal combustion engine in favor of the electrical motor.

Nice try but horses and ev's are two different circumstances. In other words, 1888 was far different from 2019! Still nice try. 🤣

Engineering is regarded as an art form in Germany to this day (Ingenieurskunst = the art of engineering). It were the likes of Karl Benz and Rudolf Diesel who helped elevate engineering to this revered status and to this day German engineers strive to live up to this expectation and standard.

Thank heaven for women like Bertha Benz. If it wasn't for her taking out her husbands invention that he spent twenty years and 10's of thousands of hours working on and developing, plus every cent he probably made, Karl would have probably just let it sit in the barn and not tell anyone. And the brake idea. Leather nailed on the wooden block.... sheer genius.

Except that Benz did not invent the motor carriage, a Frenchman did, in 1888 steam powered motor carriages were a common thing more so than people expect, yes only the rich could afford one but still it was not like "no one" had heard of a self propelled carriage, its moronic to assume so, by 1888 steam powered tractors were plowing the fields on huge farms, it was by no means a surprise to anyone to see a self propelled small vehicle.
