😁 3:12 this is me to my fifteen-year-old daughter. Sometimes she thinks it's cool, sometimes she thinks it's annoying that I'm incorporating Japanese language into our daily conversations and being random with it. Overall I think she's being a good sport about it. Heck, she even wants to follow me to Japan as a college student when I retire there in a few years. does Japan accept dual citizenship? In terms of traveling, the Japanese passport is actually even "better" than the US passport. But it's not like that's the only thing that matters :) I grew up in four countries and actually had to "give up" one citizenship to have a more travel friendly passport, but now I am a dual citizen and happy about that, because both countries actually mean something to me and it would feel odd to not be able to participate in elections and not be seen as a citizen. When I travel to my country of birth and speak the language, but present a foreign passport, it's always a bit odd. And for a while I even needed a visa to visit my birth country, which was really, really weird. I do understand the reluctance of giving people multiple citizenships that some countries/people have, but as a child who lived in several countries and still feels like part of them in some ways, it also feels wrong to have to choose and give up those parts of oneself.
