This video helped me to understand how you guys make money to fund your lifestyle. I hope you do well because I sure enjoy watching you videos. The quality of your photos are exquisite and both of your personality’s fit like a glove. I looked up roof top tents and found prices all over the place. I hope you can get a good one as they would seem to fit your lifestyle and provide more comfort.

Alan Humbard yes, i'm looking forward to a softer mattress for sure! one doesn't have to be pumped up first, squeaks all night and is empty half way through the night🥴😂it's also very very quick to set up and take down which fits our needs perfectly! another plus: no scorpions, snakes or anything else on eye level😂😂😂that's the main reason to be honest 🙄🙄😂thank you so much for watching alan!

Awesome video and info guys! Quick question. I just picked up my second Benro tripod. It’s a Mach 3 XL. Probably going to also pick up the g2 or g3 ball head. Which one are you using and how do you like the ballhead itself?
@PereaPhotography

I use the g2 and I think its not bad. It hard to adjust the tension because there is only one nob.Especially in the cold. But its sturdy for sure! And thank you!

Before you commit to a specific ballhead, look into Acratech ballheads. I have one one a Benro tripod and I love the combination.

Great vid thanks! I didn't know you did Workshops! I will have to save up my pennies. If you guys ever find yourselves looking for CA coastal areas, I'd recommend Morro Bay. State parks for camping and short distance from other beaches to explore as well! I dont believe you'd have to worry about permits and ins either (I could be wrong though). I know you guys are not in the market yet, but camping and exploring seems to be your second passion. Might I suggest looking into a very small hard sided pop up? Great for making base camp with more storage and you dont have to fold up the tent every time you want to motor around. The hard sides also gives you a little more 4 season camping (Not a ton but more than a tent or canvas would). Oh and it seems that camping, fishing, and outdoor vids are getting more popular as well ;).
@PereaPhotography
@PereaPhotography 4 жыл бұрын
BurtonVDP yes we are definitely looking into the hard tops. Definitely much more attractive than the soft ones. They are a bit pricier but the ease of setup is great, and the 4 seasons is a big deal as well. Thank you!

I was able to photograph Death Valley last spring and I loved sunrise at Zabrieski Point! By the time we got to Badwater Basin a storm was beginning to roll in and it made for some incredibly dramatic skies. Unfortunately, it was a pretty wild storm, and roughly six months worth of rain fell in the next 24 hours. Some areas of the park were closed off due to flash floods and mudslides and we were never able to get back to Badwater Basin (hoping to do some astro photography there). Instead, we transitioned over to the west side and "moved" to Lone Pine CA and shot the Alabama Hills and Mt Whitney as well as spending two days shooting at Father Crowley's Overlook (the "Jedi Transition"). :-) Despite the torrential rain, floods and landslides, it was a great trip.

Here are the Landscape shots from that trip: rob-hogarth.smugmug.com/Landscapes/Death-Valley-Eastern-Sierras-and-the-Road-Trip/ And here are the ones we took in our two days at Father Crowley's Overlook: rob-hogarth.smugmug.com/Airplanes/Jedi-Transition-Star-Wars-Canyon/

Personally I hope you rethink the rooftop tent. The advantages are few and the disadvantages of climbing up and down all the time and not being able to leave it and run around and then come back to your tent or trailer , is real. I know you are a lot younger than I am but still. The cost of then tent will pay for a lot of motel rooms. Well you ask . Best of luck I love your channel !!!
@PereaPhotography
@PereaPhotography 4 жыл бұрын
Ken Folwell thanks Ken! We’ve been going back and forth on a roof top tent, trailer and just paying for hotels. I agree about climbing up and down, and also being able to leave it and go out to shoot. They can also get pretty expensive. The ones we are looking at pop up in about 30 seconds, and take down in about 1.5 minutes. But chris and I both are to a point where comfort is one of our top 2 priorities. Everything has a trade off, so our search continues haha

consciousCRE8IVEmedia hey Bill! Yeah I got rid of it last year. I’d definitely love a sprinter van set up though. For me I need 4x4 out here in the Southwest. Right now it’s a bit out of my price range but is definitely the most ideal setup for sure.

Hi Mike. Love how informative your videos are. Can you tell me why on some of your images with direct sun you used an open aperture and faster shutter speed with 320 ISO? I have some guesses, but would like to hear your reasoning. Thanks!
@PereaPhotography
@PereaPhotography 4 жыл бұрын
Hey Beth! The reason for those is that they were hand held shots and it was a bit windy. Those time I get my shutter speed much faster, especially with a longer focal length. So since everything in the shot was far away, I didn’t have to worry about depth of field so I used 2.8, and then lastly bumped up the iso to 320.

Hey, Mike and Chris. . You introduced Chris as your wife. Did that happen recently? Anyway, you opened up my eyes as to how difficult it is to make a living at photography. I had no idea. I love Death Valley. I made three or four trips when I lived in California. My focus was on "things you would not expect" from Death Valley. For example, lakes, rivers, streams, waterfalls, snow etc. Add to that strange stuff as well. Hope you get a chance to make your way out to the open air museum near Beatty, NV. Very unique and strange artwork out there. Take care.

I was an electrician for 40 years, now retired and doing landscape photography full time here in SC. I wondered if you have considered a Ko-Fi button. As you may know, it helps folks like you with purchases via a button where viewers can contribute a small amount (such as the equivalent to an over-priced Starbucks coffee) to your particular need. It may be something you don't want to do but some of the UK photographers I follow have had remarkable success in getting small donations to fund one-time needs. By the way, I don't know how it works other than you can click a button to contribute via PayPal.
