I am a 17 year old Indian boy and I am gay too. When I was younger, I felt the LGBTQ + community to be taboo for me, but I wouldn’t deny their existence. At that time, I had no source to help or motivate me to face my true identity and come out, even to myself. I did not even want to accept myself as not straight, because I always felt it to be too taboo. I guess eventually something happened and I came out to my two closest friends, and eventually my parents came to know of it. I then watched the film Shubh Mangal Zyada Saavdhan in 2020 and felt myself free and open like never before. I was now so much more confident about myself being gay, and have since felt a very close and intimate connection with the LGBTQ+ community, like it has become another family for me. Today I proudly stand gay, and watching your videos makes me happy, for I feel good when more Indians speak out in confidence and courage about their sexuality, for the LGBTQ+ community (now my close family-like community) is still considered taboo in India. Parts of section 377 were struck down and that was a huge milestone for India, but we still have a long way to go, legalizing all kinds of marriages, not just limiting them to between a man and a woman. I too dream of living a beautiful and satisfactory life with my future husband. I am a part of and stand for the LGBTQ+ community!!! 🏳️‍🌈
