I lived in Bellingham Washington for 8 years - dark rainy - wet everywhere - depressing. After three years I couldn’t wait to get back into the sunshine. My teeth became loose - I became extremely vitamin D deficient. I hope you guys can make it up there in there In the Canadian rainforest!

I have traveled extensively and many countries are nice but not one of them compares to the US of America. I still think that it's the Greatest country on the face of the earth! I'm considerably older than you both and I also know that these other countries would not be as good as they are if not for the USA. You are living in an idealized state of mind and you tout how wonderful these other countries are but deny Americans the same pride in theirs. I would expect an Italian to be proud of Italy and an Irishman to love Ireland and so forth and so on etc. You also have to know two very important things about, "other countries!" First, there's a lot of their citizenry who look on the USA as a hope for people all over the world. And secondly, in two World Wars, of which we Americans had no part in starting, it was Americans who stepped up and shed their blood to save these other countries from sure destruction and lives of Communist bondage which has brought untold misery and deaths to uncountable millions.

This is the third video of you I am watching; I was drawn in by your 3.5-hour summary video that you recently put out (watched it all btw) and I couldn't agree more on how traveling is just a mind-opening experience; there are so many common points between what you said and my ideologies and the way I think of life and what I would like to do with it that you've been more than an inspiration; you said it and you did it. I feel that this is a milestone video and I wouldn't have been able to appreciate everything you've done as much without a reflective video such as this. Thanks for telling everyone to get out there and explore! Also the way you guys are only knowing each other, having been together for less than a year, lends so much genuineness and authenticity that make your whole experience just that much more special. That's some big-bang vegan awesomeness.

I do agree that. most Americans who believe America is the best place to live are the one's who have traveled the least. I grew up in NYC and you literally have people that have leaved in the same neighborhood their whole lives. Sad! I have been blessed to have travel the world and experience so many different cultures and remarkable places throughout Europe, Asian countries, Middle East, Australia, and even Greenland. The best experience ever and I could see myself leaving abroad. Europe would definitely is high on the list.

Hey Jake & Nicole, I've recently started watching your off the grid channel. I think it's neat what you're doing. If I was younger, I might consider doing the same. Anyway, I would like to address your nationalist comment. I'm a retired military person...22 years in the Air Force. I've traveled the world...europe, middle East, and far East. I have to say I did find things in those areas that I thought was better than the USA. But when you look at the big picture, the only reason other countries are able to enjoy the freedoms they have is because on the USA. Otherwise, they would be ruled by communist dictators, fascist or imperialist regimes. You should be THANKFUL to be a U.S. citizen. Thankful to be able to go off the grid and live a free life style. Just remember, you wouldn't be able to do those things if it wasn't for nationalist that love this country and the freedoms our constitution gives us. Maybe when you get tired of living in the woods you should do a trek across the USA and maybe you'll see how we have opportunities to live any life style that suits you fancy. I can honestly say I know, because I've lived from coast-to-coast and in between in this country. The USA is the greatest country in the whole world.

I have traveled all over the world and I still LOVE America. I appreciate everywhere i have been but I choose to be in love with the country of my birth. I DONT need to pretend to be anything other than what I am. Just like people who are from other countries they also LOVE their country. I honestly have been to so many places that I am greatful for what I have and where I was "Birthed". American's ARE allowed be love their country just as the French love their country for instance. Italians love Italy. My time spent in really violent countries I was not so in love with. I love to be able to sleep at night with out fear of bombs and gun fire which goes on way to often. I choose my country but love to travel and will continue to but coming home is sweet.

Of course American are allowed to love their country. I think America triggers a reaction in this area because American's are almost universally unique in declaring it as the greatest country in the world. That gets old and triggers a reaction.

Let me tell you, Jake, I've been all around he world, and although so much of it is beautiful, there's no place like home, that's America for me. Try parts of Africa, and Asia, where the people live in shanty, and have no clean water, no real system for sewerage, etc. Careful making blanket statements, but you definitely need to go explore. You will find beautiful places, and those what are incredibly ugly, and wonder how people survive it. It's important to see all sides. Have fun! God Bless America, and all other places on Earth.

Honest question: If the USA isn't that great, why do so many want to come here? Legal and illegal. I'm sure many places in the world are much better than many places in the USA, but something has the world's eye on the USA and even traveling many miles to get through our border. (not referring to the mess we have at the border now... I know that answer).

Oh Jake, I lived two years in Bolivia, months in Argentina, spent time in Spain, France and Mexico. My one son lived in Venezuela and my other son lived in Spain for two years. My mother was from Argentina and I have even spent time in your backyard in Tempe. Of course there are wonderful people in all countries, and there are not so good people in all countries. If there is a criticism of US citizens, it is that they do not take advantage of what they have, and do not appreciate the country. My travels and study of history has shown me why America happened. Trust me in this, the rest of the world would not be as good as it is, if America had not happened. This country was inspired and changed the whole world. Yes, we can destroy it if we are not careful, but abandonment is not the answer. I hope you will revoke your citizenship and divorce yourself of all US connections and privileges and then report back in a few years. That would be interesting.
