Omg Sadie is so relatable with the face plant 😂 but yes sometimes it can be so sad when you think you’re going to bring your work friend relationship to the next level but then it doesn’t happen right away and it’s like shit I read that wrong. But gotta have faith bc one of my best friends at the beginning of our relationship I was like there’s no way I would be friends with her if we weren’t in the same cohort in school but then now she’s one of my best! Yeah, that colleague/friend thing is a bit weird. To some extent, I think it's personal, i. e. some people just don't want to get close to colleagues as a principle. And some people might be even less into it after having kids. But I have also experienced that it's highly dependent on workplace culture. At some companies I worked at, it just didn't come naturally, that people wanted to hang out outside of work time. At other workplaces, there has been a completely different culture/spirit, and lots of us were meeting up in different constellations (ages 25-50) at evenings or weekends.
