Paid off the mortgage last year! I was 33 and hubs was 38. We also started giving more, which seems counterintuitive, but it's really not. Follow the lord, and He will provide.

How does it work exactly to give more and then get more in return? Will you give detailed examples of how this works from beginning to end? (It doesn't make sense to give away your money when you owe people and are in debt). Thanks. (I'm a Christian and I want to understand this about God.)
@nicolehill1115

@@erinjarrod812 the only way I can explain it is--Its a god thing. When you are grateful for what you have and follow what God asks you to do (tithe/give), then he sends blessings your way. I have many examples, but there was one month I gave our church an increase in $, my budget ended up being $35 short. I got a check in the mail from a doc for a copay repayment for almost the exact amount I needed. B4 I got the check, I thought maybe I shouldn't have given more money, but I ended up being reassured God had my back. God also doesn't want you to be a slave to the lender, so being careful with your money and paying down debt is great.

Hi Bob and Linda, We really enjoyed this video and can totally relate to every single point you made. We paid ours off in 7 years. The feeling of not having the debt is HUGE! What I loved the most about what you shared was the important aspect of God's grace. The opportunity to start a business is also something that most people with normal day jobs can absolutely relate to. Even the opportunity to move from working 5 days a week to maybe 2 or 3 days and using that extra time to build something one is passionate about. Stay blessed, guys! :)

Hi, we are on track to pay off our mortgage this August!! At the end of last year, we felt led by God to take the $1,500 extra we were going to pay on our mort in January, and give it toward our church. We obeyed cheerfully knowing that it's God's wisdom and favor that have gotten us to this place. The following week someone gave us a $1,000 check just because. This was nothing we expected. It turned out, we were still able to somehow put a different $1,500 on our mort. In January. God is so amazing! We previously paid off a house back in 2014. It is the most amazing feeling. We got a slightly bigger house a couple years back. We are so close and I'm so excited! I thank God for His wisdom and favor over our lives. After we pay off our mortgage, our goal is to help pay off the mortgage on our church!

We are definitely paying off our house early! Our goal is 5 years. We just bought it and have made 2 payments and have already cut 2 yrs from our mortgage! Such a good feeling already! We are not paying "as much as possible" because we want room in our budget for improvements. But we have set our own number of what our monthly payment should be, much higher than what the bank expects. Our goal is to live here for just a few years until our 4 children are a bit older and then get something with a lot more land. Paying it off and adding value to it through updates should give us enough equity so that we can get something nicer for our next one, with minimal debt, if any. And yes! We definitely started with giving too! We were already tithing, but we decided to look for any opportunity to give and help others and throw ourselves into it whole heartedly and it's AMAZING how our lives have been enriched! It's amazing how much we are already reaping and we just got started! God is so faithful!

Love this! You r a power couple. I went thru Dave Ramseys FPU twice after my 46 year old husband had 2 major strokes and became totally disabled. 5 kids at home 32k in credit card debt. You are so right- I see it almost 10 years later the wind was on my back after I started doing God's instructions. Debt free and paid off house within 3 years. Who knew that after we paid house off had to move quickly out of state leaving paid off house in a dead housing market. We've been renting out the house to christians from our church for over 5 years while we have relocated. Only God.

I am so encouraged with this video. We just bought a house. We are putting 20% of down payment and my goal is to pay it off in 5 years. We live in Hollywood Florida and we bought the house brand new construction in Mascotte Florida. Me husband works remotely since the pandemic but he will back to an office every other week. He will continue with his job and his company will assign him an office space in the area that we are moving, but I will finish my job in June and I will need to find a job that I can do remotely since I will be the caregiver of my mom. I am very excited of what God will do in our lives so will can bring Glory to his name. You guys are amazing, God bless you always and multiply all the goodness that you share with us.

Paying off our house in full is our #1 financial goal currently! We got a 30 year mortgage, put 20% down at the start, and every year with raises and bonuses we try to put more and more towards it. Our goal is to have it paid off by year 10, and we’re nearly 8 years in now, but only have nearly 50% of the house paid off. We are still hoping and working to meet our goal! It’s ok if we don’t quite meet it, we’ll still do the best we can do, we’ve already cut the mortgage down to 23 years from 30, so that’s good. We’ve had a lot of discouraging and unexpected setbacks this last year. But, God has taken care of us in this difficult time, so there is really not much to complain of.

Paying off a mortgage early is not good advice for some people. It is important to save in an investment account at the same time you are paying off loans if the interest you pay is low relative to anticipated returns (instead of waiting to invest until after paying off loans). Example is that for me, it's better to just make the normal mortgage payment and instead of paying extra put that extra money into investment account since the loan interest is 4% and investment returns are expected to be 8%. Long term difference is huge. When I get more conservative with investments, it would make more sense to pay extra towards the mortgage. I'm ok with a mortgage payment because I'm playing the long game.

Hey Michael, did you watch all of the video? I addressed our reasons for that in there
@joycewatt3292
@joycewatt3292 5 жыл бұрын
michael thal you are also playing the typical game. Debt is debt. Some people look at a mortgage ad good debt kind of like student loans but as long as you are making payments you are paying more and in that sense the math doesn't add up. Instead pay off debt and keep the principal and the interest. To each his own but I'm a fan of the latter. God bless.
@iggman1
@iggman1 5 жыл бұрын
Joyce Watt don't you see that you can have less money in the future by paying off a low interest loan early instead of investing that extra money? Sure, it feels good to pay off a debt, but it feels even better to see your net worth increase faster and retire earlier.
@markl6442
@markl6442 5 жыл бұрын
Michael is spot on actually. My mortgage rate is 2.875% and not such a great idea to pay it off so early. The opportunity cost of money invested is far greater given compound interest over time. You know what I think is more of a burden than cheap debt on your home? Not having enough saved up for retirement and most of your net worth tied up in a non liquid asset. You know what doesn’t go away when you pay off your mortgage? Taxes and insurance , which for me is half my payment given my P&I is so low with a low interest rate. My P&I payment is like a car payment. Putting every extra dollar toward mortgage is more risky to me. I’d rather have liquidity all day over not having cheap debt (basically free money).

I am trusting God to pay off my house ASAP. It starts with trusting Him to limit any medical expenses that I paid too much this year, and trusting that He will reveal His ultimate will for my life when I have true financial freedom to do whatever it is He will provide. Hopefully, that includes working only part time in the future someday, and invest more time beyond my career.

Hello Linda and Bob, You all are such an amazing couple and inspiration! Linda mentioned the Kingdom principles. Speaking of tithing and sowing and reaping. Our pastor Meeks talked about this in detail this past Sunday. Saying that as you said Bob,it seemingly makes no sense, however God's ways are not our ways! As the Bible says seek ye first God and allllllll other things will be taken care of. As Pastor Meeks said, we have to have things in order or they are out of order. Meaning that God wants to be first in our thoughts when we get up in the morning and first in our giving. Linda that was sooooo special when you looked at Bob and said Hi, and he responded in kind. I felt that touch my heart! It really showed how much you love and respect each other. Sometimes the smallest things like that can convey the most. Saying I care, I love and respect you, I notice you even though we are doing this video, you are the most important thing to me after God our creator! Bill and Cookie

Thanks for the great video. 👍 Love that your first 2 points are "this is possible" and it is "by God's Grace" I am single and my goal is to pay off my home in 10 years. My main motivation besides being debt free, is paying less than $50,000 in interest of a 10 year mortgage compared to $150000 in interest over 30 years. And this will be possible by God's Grace for me.

I just stumbled upon your videos and really have enjoyed them! We are debt free and should be working on paying off the mortgage but are really struggling with making this a priority. Between saving for braces (kids are 10 and 5), home repairs that are bound to come up, car savings (we don't finance and know our 2007 and 2010 Honda van and car will eventually go), college, etc. how do you also throw huge chunks at the mortgage? We put $140 extra per month into principle but that will only shave off about 7 years. Thanks!

We are focused on paying our mortgage; we want to relieve ourselves of the burden of debt which for us is both financial and psychological. We know many people who have refinanced again and again and are now in a position where they believe that they will never pay off their mortgage. We have prioritized the mortgage and have renewed for the last time. The plan is that in five years we will be completely debt free.

Congratulations on paying off your house early! Question: Did paying off your mortgage early effect your credit score at all? I'm curious, because I am almost done and am curious if it will have an impact on my credit score, which is currently pretty great. I plan to buy a car next year, and am curious if I should be it at the end of this year or wait until next year, after I'm completely done with the 🏠. Great video.

Not sure, those scoring companies are engimas with how they score the way they do, so I wouldn't be surprised if it didn't help your score, but now that we are 100% debt free, I don't care at all what my score is. It is meaningless if you don't need to borrow anything. But for what it's worth, years after having no debt, I still have an 800 credit score.
