Love this! My husband and I live in Canada and paid off our $260K mortgage this past August in just under 5 years! We also cash-flowed 2 vehicles and countless home items (fence, furniture, etc.), and have also paid for daycare and put money away for our childrens’ education funds throughout! We bought the house for $565K, so had saved up a huge lump sum in advance as well. It IS possible! 🎉

It doesn’t make any sense to be debt free right now. All of my debts are 3% interest or less. Paying any extra principle right now is flushing wealth down the toilet.

@@MarriageKidsandMoney well it wasn’t hard to do-low interest credit was being handed out like candy for about 6 years. All I’m saying is, paying down debt is not always the best play. The credit environment millions Americans got their existing debts in was extremely favorable to borrowers. A lot of people right now have a 3% mortgage-and you can get zero-risk returns of almost 5% just from a simple savings account. So why in the world would you take cash in your pocket and pay down a debt that you are being paid NOT to pay off? The cash in your pocket is capital you can deploy on other more fruitful investments. A mortgage gets cheaper every single year-why would you take cash (that is the most valuable it is ever going to be, today) and spend it on something that gets *cheaper* the longer you wait to pay it? Like it just doesn’t make any sense to do that. And this is how a LOT of Americans have been misled through bad advice by people like Dave Ramsey who preach, single-mindedly, about the number one priority of getting out of debt. No, low-interest debt is the absolute best way to build wealth. My bank is lowing money on my debts and I am MAKING money on my debts. Because I DIDNT have to spend $250,000 out of pocket to purchase a property-I got to invest it somewhere else for much better returns. It’s not stuck in an illiquid money pit like a house.
