No other room in a home is dirtier than you think it is like the kitchen, it is amazing how those really clean walls were so dirty looking when you applied white paint. I go through this every time I do anything in my kitchen that involves moving anything. I always wonder how something that nothing should ever touch either faded or got darker. As for my DIY project I totally redid my front porch, new ceiling, repainted the floor, porch swing, hanging plants, and a little table top that sits on the bucket that holds the sand for winter. I sit out there and listen to Island music like they play in bars in Florida and just relax.

Nicely done! Coincidentally I have just finished digging some paint rollers out of the garage so my son can paint his own bedroom. I have done plenty of house painting for myself but am now of an age when I will tend to pay someone else to do it. One of the (few) benefits of older age!

Hello Seb and Jasmine, I have been working on putting in replacement windows I have 14 to do. It is going well and I did a lot of put the window in take the window out. It would have been going better if PELLA windows sent me all the parts. We have been updating the house and have completed and entire kitchen, dining room, I put up all new sheet rock and taped the seams and trimmed and painted everything. This was a bit difficult task doing it by my self. My honey do list has gotten longer not shorter my wife must like what we have been doing but none the less it has been completed and for a rookie it came out very good. We also did our bathroom from new floor to new light fixtures. Well I hope all is well and you can get out a bit. Its tough being stuck at home. Have a great weekend. I hope I have your name spelled correctly. Bye

Hiya, I recently hung a venetian blind up in my galley window - Of course due to the shape of the walls it hung a bit forward when dropped down - My tip: Fix two brass cup hooks into the wooden panels where the blind reaches down to, in line with the blind strings (that hold the slats in position) then simply push the strings onto the hooks with a finger - they then hold the blind flush to the wall. Hi what type of paint did you use? Our new roof ply panels arrived yesterday and the new bulk head are all cut. Just got to fix the rotten floor and will be looking good again.

Thanks guys It’s amazing how people seem to be changing since lockdown started, more DIY more gardening more cooking, more time spent with family, this has made us all realise what is important in life. Are you both Londoners born and bread? I don’t think I could live in a city it would be to noisy for me, I do like the countryside.

Hi Jasmin, I'm looking at buying my first narrowboat. Did you have a hull survey done on your boat before you bought it and how long is your boat? Kitchen looks great!
@t1n44444 жыл бұрын
!!! Unless you are a marine engineer with experience of narrowboats never, EVER, buy a boat (any boat) without a full survey. You can never tell if any work has been bodged and covered up. Survey should cost around £500+, plus getting the boat out and back into the water, plus getting hull power washed so surveyor can do the hull plates thicknesses. Probably total upfront cost around £800. Do NOT rely on a recent survey because no comeback later, as contract with surveyor was with previous owner. And insist on seeing all paperwork such as BSS documents, gas safety certificate. If BSS surveyor marked up any areas of concern you can ask your pre-purchase surveyor to check those items. Your insurers will want to know there is a valid BSS certificate before they will cover the boat anyway. If boat is over a certain age (depends on insurer) they will want a hull survey. Suggest you get any engine servicing documentation as well as. Nothing to stop you looking at the boat details on-line either. Anyway, Jasmine will probably add to that list as it's by no means exhaustive.

@@t1n4444 Thanks Ross, I've asked a few sellers if the know hull thickness or have had any surveys done before blacking and they seem reluctant to answer or they simply don't know. It's a minefield out there and I will definitely be getting a survey done when I find a suitable vessel. Thanks again for taking the time to write your comment, it's much appreciated.

@@MessengerRising You are entirely welcome. Were you to have a squint at the vlogs of J's friends and other fellow narrowboat vloggers then quite a few episodes on buying a narrowboat can be found. But, as before, the advice, hints and tips should not be regarded as a substitute to having your prospective purchase properly surveyed. In addition there are one or two boat sales websites who offer a lot of free advice on virtually every aspect of owning a narrowboat. Some websites have a library of clips which you might find useful. In short any time spent on research won't be wasted, as I'm sure you know anyway ... and keep your wallet firmly shut until you're sure the boat is "the" boat ... 😁

@@t1n4444 Thanks Ross, I'm learning more every time I take the time to research. I did see a pretty comprehensive buyer's guide on Whilton Marina's website and I plan on speaking to local boaters when the lockdown eases. I've been an avid viewer of narrowboat content for over a year and it just keeps calling me. I'll be sure to be as thorough as I can when making my first purchase for peace of mind and a successful life on the cut. Best to you Ross :-)
