I was at a council meeting in Adur supporting the the de-investment of pension funds from Israeli weaponisation. It was really well attended with pro Palestinian supporters from the community. Frankly this is all good stuff. Anybody who remembers Northern Ireland 'troubles' will remember that the UK government had to pay huge compensations for the breach of humanitarian law to many people. It looks like nobody has learnt much from that experience but there is no law that I'm aware of that disallows the use a) of the definition of the people/race and their right under international law to defend themselves against oppression. Israel's claim to have announced a declaration of war has itself no merit because war is between two states. Interestingly, I would argue that Israel has, in effect, accepted the existence of a Palestinian State by their actions. That of course rolls on into issues of breaches under the Geneva Convention without even considering International War Crimes. The idea that any Statute of Law should be interpreted as endorsing any prosecution to suppress a legitimate International Law would be extraordinary.

The raid on Sarah Wilkinson’s home was not cordial. She was led into a van by men wearing balaclavas and driven the long way round to the police station (two hours, I think?) She was hand cuffed tightly and she was denied access to medication that she needs. I think she was detained for the best part of a day. They completely ransacked her home and desecrated her mother’s ashes. There is a video interview with her, just after it happened, titled ‘UK journalist under house arrest on terrorism charges'. Asa, in another video, has thanked the people who were persecuted before he was for kicking up a fuss. The police now know that how they conduct themselves will be reported publicly.
