Packing a PaB cup properly can make a huge difference. For the 1x2 bricks, for example, I can get 711 in one cup (in addition to smaller pieces (like 1x1 or 1x3 tiles) and a couple 1x4 plates.

FYI from a lego employee, bringing the cups back to the store to refill also gets you the 50c discount, even if the store doesn’t let you pour into a bag, especially since almost every store charges for bags now

Another useful method I have employed is to buy sets where the seller has removed the Minifigs. Often a set will be up to 50-60% percent cheaper as a lot of people are only interested in collecting the Minifigs.

Most AFOL’s I’ve interacted with don’t keep any price-saving measures in secret, and are happy to share what they know. However, not everyone has these explicitly listed out somewhere or are ready to present these tips on demand, more like (a) something they know intuitively and can’t easily describe, or (b) think everybody already knows them and don’t want to insult others by saying something they already know. There’s a possibility it’s not a nefarious reason someone doesn’t say these but rather an innocent one.
@onrean
@onrean 2 жыл бұрын
Part of this is because a lot of AFOL's get their parts directly from Lego at a discount and are required to not share the price or details. This method provides new bricks at a way better price than anything shared in this video.

Also- look in thrift stores- I found an almost complete (minus sails & 1 bag) Destiny’s Bounty for $20. Then there were 2 other taped-shut completely full shoe-box-sized Rubbermaid containers full, which I obviously needed to wash & sort- but there were Star Wars, marvel, dc, etc minifigs in them- so I left that store that day having spent $40 in total for at least $400 worth of parts & minifigs.

How do you wash your bricks? I got 20 bags from half price books for $3 each. 1 to 1.5lbs each bag. Good deal I think some bags didn't have any minifigs but some bags had up to five minifigs and some animals and lots of weapons and stuff.

@@AFOLTV Same here. Your tips have probably more value than the bricks themselves. Haha 😂. But I have a question in terms of Part out Sets: Do you still keep the original boxes of these sets or do you throw them away and keep only the pieces and sell the figures and the instructions?? I mean, the complete sets are more in value than the particular pieces, aren‘t they? Thank you! Just subbed.

@@Wowa9305 Hi, most lego sets are worth buying for the pieces because they often come with rare or unique pieces. If you try to rebuild a lego set by buying pieces from different sellers, it will be way more expensive than if you buy the lego set (even when not considering the value of the minifigs that come with the lego set) (I hope i answered your question)

I never thought about spending the VIP points on pick a brick because from my past experience they only had a small assortment. You have to take into account that the colour palette is also limited; a useful part might not be in a useful colour. Its actually such a good value though if you can find parts for you builds, on top of which you get the promotional deals too.

If your fortunate to have a Bricks and Minifigs store near you I have found great deals buying bulk used lego that I get to sort for on their used bricks tables. They have all sorts of small, medium, and large bags to use for buying bricks. I then with my kids sort and find exactly the color and bricks we are looking to buy. It takes some time but also part of the hobby is hunting down the part you want.
