Disabled people are a small and captive audience, it's quite common for us to have to pay way more than we should to get anything.

One thing I’ve learned from in different companies is that these companies don’t care about you. They charge you so much because they know it’s something you’ll need if you have a disability.

I am a certified bicycle mechanic and when i hear those prizes for "wheelchair tires" i can only SMH ... They are bicycle tires ! Nothing else. And i can say that with confidence cause i have worked on wheelchairs for years too. Yes, you can choose between air tires and full rubber material depending on what your preferences are or what the chair is specifically used for. So DON`T go to a wheelchair shop when you need new rubber, always go to a bicycle shop, they can and will help you. At a fraction of the prize. Another example: JerryRigEverything`s "Notawheelchair" : Mostly, i would guess more than 90 %, bike parts. Zack did that on purpose, for easy maintenance and mostly low costs.

Haha I remember having to take the test in a new state. The woman who administered the test said I cheated cause I answered all questions correctly. Keep spreading the info on tire replacement. It's that good. Peace

One of my favorite pastors on youtube is derek prince and he said some of the sweetest people he has met are those who use wheelchairs. I completely agree because of the line of work I'm in I have been blessed to meet a few. And to my point, Cole is so very sweet God bless!

That difference in price is just crazy! Thank God you both are more forward thinking and can work outside the box. I am not disabled, but have been watching you for years, and the things I have learned on your channel, I have been able to share. Thanks for all you do. Congrats on obtaining your Cali license and Real ID. The thought of fighting the DMV crouds to get that Real ID has helped me procrastinate getting that done.

Cole, you might have lucked out with getting the grey tires over the black. Most black tires can leave streaks on floors, kind of like black rubber heels on shoes leave marks. The people that keep our floors nice tend to love us more when we don't streak up their floors. 😄

awesome cost savings. air pressure matters in cars and bicycles. maybe in wheelchairs too? slightly softer tyres give a smoother, less jerky ride. softer is also good for rough terraine so tyres have "give". that reduces likelihood of punctures. hard maxed-out air pressure in tyres are good for lower friction and, in a car, less gas consumption. on a bike, for speed on smooth roads. (higher risk of punctures, esp on rougher suface). so i assume it's easier to push a chair with harder tyres, as there is less friction and less tyre surface touching the pavement. but to the rider, slightly softer tyres might feel smoother. can the body be damaged by tough wheel jerking and increased vibrations? can you increase shock abdorbtion with cushier seat?

My husband has a knee brace among many things for his stroke recovery. The brace was covered by insurance but extra parts would have cost $40 (the rep who came to our house was a tool but that’s a different story). I called the manufacturer and they sent us the parts for free! 🙌

in Michigan you must take a yearly written and road test for a DL if using a wheel chair or just unable to walk, even though I dont need special equipment to drive, appointment must be made NO WALK OR ROLL INS ALLOWED, I feel discimated against, I pass with flying colors every year, kind of hurts, congrats Coleeee

I agree with bike shop’s being cheaper. However, one word of caution, traditional wheelchair tires are latex free. Just keep that in mind if you have latex allergies. Bike tires contain latex. The reason the black tires probably didn’t fit is because there’s a number after the size. For example my tires are 22x 1 3/8 but right after the size there is a number such as 37-501. If you don’t match this number to your existing tires they will not fit!

Your old tyres felt soft probably because they needed more air in them. You may want to get a bike pump to keep your tyre pressure where it should be. Soft tyres are harder work to ride on

Back in December I got new tire for my wheelchair because they were bald as 💩the company I use for my chair they gave me the option to get air filled or solid I decided to go with solid so my brakes always work and I wanted solid tires anyway because the air filled ones drove me crazy because when the air was going down my brakes stopped working and I’ve landed on my but a few times transferring then in April of this year on Easter weekend I woke up and my seatbelt broke it wouldn’t click so for a week I couldn’t use my seatbelt I don’t how people with out seatbelt do it I was so scared that I was gonna go arse over tea kettle I’ve always had a seatbelt I live in Canada so when I’m wheeling around outside you just never know if you’ll hit a pot hole I can go without my wheelie bars but I need a seatbelt to feel safe

You have to take a test to get a drivers licence in each state you move too ? You don’t have to do this in Canada when you move provinces.. here you just switch your licence to the new province Id

I think like most licenses in the US, it depends on the state. Many states have reciprocity and may only require basic info to switch licenses.

Cole, when you started to drive with hand controls, how did you know you had enough strength to push and pull them? Is there a way I can be tested to see if I am strong enough? I have MD and 😢 have strength at weired angles. I position my arms . I have strong wrist muscles. Lol 🤠

We have same for costs of disability products here in Australia. However we pay huge amounts more for any equipment that is imported due to distance from USA, UK ECT. We have a national disability isurance scheme that assists with costs of equipment and therapies. We pay double the cost for a therapist if using this funding. Myself and my 19yo and 12yo all have the exact same model power chair as Cole. They were over $25K Australian dollars.

It’s wild that you weren’t allowed to smile for your last license. I wonder if it’s the rule or just certain places and or people. My cousin and grandma weren’t allowed to smile for their passport pictures but I’m smiling in all of mine (we live in the same state about 50 miles apart). 🤷🏽‍♀️
