This was a wonderful and informative video. The best I’ve seen. Not only that, but your van is exactly what I’m looking for. Again, great video.

Thank you so much! We took so many notes! Our family has the identical van and are looking to ship to Europe in September. When you were weighing your van frequently what did you weigh just before you shipped? And did you ever get pulled over and weighed there because it looked like you may have been close to the legal threshold? Again, this video was so thorough and amazing!

Hey Guys, great question! So my Sprinter has a Gross weight capacity of 11,030LBS and when we weighed it upon completion with full fresh water tanks and full diesel tank, personal belongings in it, we were at $9,880lbs.

@@florida_familytravels ok great! And you never had an issue? Did you have a C1 license or no?
@florida_familytravels8 ай бұрын
@@thebriles I have a regular class E license in Florida. So in Europe if you live there, as soon as the van is a dually you need a “truck” license. I asked a friend over there who’s in law enforcement and he told me that as long as my license is rated for the weight I’m good. On the back of my license it says “any non commercial vehicle with a GVWR

@@florida_familytravels Thank you, you have been the most helpful. Keep up the good content! I'm sure we'll stay in touch with a fellow van-fam. And hit us up when you need good Baja recommendations! 🤙

@@thebriles that sounds great, will do. I’m sure I will have lots of questions as it gets closer.

Thanks for all the details on shipping. I'm booked for Halifax-Liverpool in June so I'm going through the checklists now to get the bus ready. I like your battery/solar setup. I have 600ah with 500 watts on the roof, but no a/c and it's been fine for me.

Exactly, if you don't have AC that amount of power should be plenty! Safe travels!!

I am wondering if you can you stay in the camper for the Atlantic crossing? Does anyone know?
@florida_familytravels2 ай бұрын
No you can't. These are cargo ships. They are basically giant garages on the water. Our van was shipped among new vehicles from the factory that were going to Europe and such.

You didn't mention if you had Lithium batteries or not. I have been hearing reports that shippers from Panama are not allowing vehicles with LiOH batteries on RORO vessels.
@Chasingthesun20193 ай бұрын
He said he has battle born batteries. It’s all electric and solar.
@florida_familytravels2 ай бұрын
So we didn't have any problem with that. Propane is more an issue. Our van is all electric (the house part), no propane. 1000ah of Battle Born Lithium Ion Batteries and 675W of Solar.

@@florida_familytravels IVSS told me this year that no lithium battery allowed.

@@XPRoller I just received an email from Sea bridge saying that as long as the batteries are built in, it's allowed.

did the marine insurance cover the theft on the way over?

Unfortunately it didn't. Personal belongings were allowed but solely at our risk...

@florida_familytravels2 ай бұрын
No, we shipped it back on the boat. I'm sure it can be done by cargo plane but it probably would be super expensive.
