Our picks for best baby carriers of 2019, why they're great, what you need to know. Plus why we excluded two entire categories of baby carriers (baby slings and baby wraps) from our best baby carriers list.
[Scroll down for contest details and rules!]
Here's what we cover in this video:
To arrive at our picks for top baby carriers of 2019, we did extensive online research to find what the most popular and highest reviewed carriers were. From there, we selected 5 to test in person.
We test carriers across a number of attributes, including safety, comfort, price, and bells & whistles.
We'll show you the ins and outs of 5 baby carriers, including the Baby Bjorn Baby Carrier One, the Beco Baby Gemini, the ErgoBaby 360, the Colugo Carrier, and the LilleBaby Complete All Seasons), and the key features shared by all 5 of our top baby carriers of 2019.
Also, we'll discuss how you should choose a baby carrier.
**For in-depth baby carrier reviews, more on our top picks, explanations of the most important features in a baby carrier, head to fathercraft.com/carriers **

Hey Nick. My wife loves her Ergobaby and I love the Colugo but a lot of it depends on your budget and how often you plan on using a carrier. If you see yourself getting a lot of use out of them then having a his and hers is probably the most effective option.

Hey Rebecca, I just talked to John (who's quite a bit bigger than his wife) and he said the Colugo and the Baby Bjorn were easiest to adjust back and forth. And yeah, all of our top pics were ergonomic for baby--they're all hip dysplasia institute certified, some were more comfortable for us (Colugo, Baby Bjorn). Hope that helps! Paul

Fathercraft I have not, wife just had our first baby and I am currently in the market for a carrier. I’m a pretty big boy at 6’5” and 260lbs. So looking for a nice strong one that would accommodate my size.
@Fathercraft
@Fathercraft 5 жыл бұрын
Haha - you’re not kidding. I would say that most carriers can be adjusted to technically “fit” you but unfortunately how comfortable you are while wearing it is mostly subjective due to varying body types and shapes. I will say that “breathability” is probably something you should strongly consider - a mesh-like fabric that’s lighter weight. The Colugo performs really well in that area and I’ve read that the Ergobaby Cool Air Mesh is also very breathable.

How often do you use the carrier in the rear carry position? Looks like it would be more convenient for the wearer but definitely harder to get the baby back there.
@Fathercraft
@Fathercraft 5 жыл бұрын
Hi Andrew - the Colugo carrier isn’t rated for a back carry position so currently not at all. We were told, though, that a back-rated carrier will be available soon so when it is you better believe I’ll be switching to that.

@@Fathercraft oh I meant generally speaking... how often do you carry your kid on your back? If not that often then it doesn't really matter if the current Colugo has that option? Just wondering if I should wait on the next model or if this one will work for the majority of the time.
@Fathercraft
@Fathercraft 5 жыл бұрын
Ah - thanks for the clarification. I think a lot of it depends on your level of activity and the size of your kid. We like to hike and be outdoors and Calvin is a rather large kid so the back carry will definitely come in handy for me. It’s also just nice to have the option if needed.

I heard someone say they didn’t want to wear their baby and put on a backpack at the same time. Is that because of a safety issue with wearing a baby and having a backpack on or is that a personal preference type of thing?

@@Fathercraft I own both types, and they serve different purposes. Just like how you can still ride horses into the bush where a car won't go. Don't be so smug.
@Fathercraft
@Fathercraft 3 жыл бұрын
I apologize, your opinion that my opinion on wraps is ridiculous triggered me, given that my opinion is I prefer sacks to swaddles. However, I'd say if we're talking about "the bush" then a better comparison would be horses to jeeps - obviously no one serious about venturing into the bush would take a car. So, to that effect, jeeps are much more efficient to use and definitely safer to ride around in than a horse. Therefore, I prefer sacks to swaddles.

Yeah this was a tough one to iron out from a logical standpoint in that on one hand we could just solely focus on the baby carriers themselves and pick our favorite one or we could include some bits about what the different types of baby carriers are how to use them why you would want to choose a certain type and the like but at the end of the day we decided hey better to have more info than not so we went ahead and decided to include those first five minutes knowing that it might redundant information for some people but sometimes you just need to go with your gut and many times it pays off but sometimes it doesn’t and of course it doesn’t feel great when that happens but at the end of the day (did I say that already?) you miss 100% of the shots you don’t take.
