How we test to see if a dry well will work?

I never realized there was science behind your method. I just assumed it worked no matter where you put it. I need to go apologize to my husband for all the holes in the yard. Hi Chuck, It's getting cold up here. We wish we were down in your neck of the woods now. Yes, it can change. This test is one piece of the puzzle. The soil survey is another big piece of the puzzle. When you find that soil doesn’t perc or that the water table is too high for a drywell, what options are you left with?

Thank you for watching Nick. If the water table is too high for chambers then we consider a leach field. I did one in the spring where the water table was about 12 inches deep ( kzbin.info/www/bejne/al7dpnqFq7h0gck ). The LF in that video was 8 inches deep with 4 inches of soil on top for a total of 12 inches deep and it worked great. You have to go much bigger because you can't go deep. If the soil doesn't perk or the WT is higher than 12 inches you have to find a different solution. You have to find someplace to discharge the water. I would contact the town engineer to see if they have any ideas or can help with a solution. I hope I answered your question, Tom

Thank you for watching our videos Nick. We install chamber systems at around 24 inches. I prefer chambers because of the flexibility and they are easy to work with. We have many videos of chambers in different configurations. Thanks again, Tom

No. Our frost line is 36 to 42 inches. Chambers are mainly used as septic laterals. You can find lots of info there.
