Thank you! This is hugely helpful. I am excited about this curriculum, but I was unsure how my reluctant reader would take to it. This is so encouraging. And I can't tell you how helpful it is to hear exactly what and how you are implementing these tools. Thank you so so much!

I'm so happy to hear that you found it helpful. There is a learning curve for sure with Brave Writer, but once you figure out what works for you it's actually pretty easy to use. Wishing you guys happy learning!

Love this!! We have a similar approach but we did grammar island by Michael clay Thompson last year so my kids had a stronger diagramming sense.

Could you use Brave Writer and MCT together? Or would the two of them just be too much? I'm gathering that MCT is similar to Fix It Grammar, but I'm not sure if it has writing involved as Brave Writer does.

MCT and Brave Writer are both multi-part programs. MCT has the grammar portion, a Latin portion which also contains literary devices, and a poetry portion. Brave Writer has 3 parts: mechanics and literature (dart, arrow, etc.), developing original thought (Growing Brave Writers book), and writing projects (jot it down, partnership writing, etc.). All of that to say that you can absolutely use both programs together. WE DO! The great thing about both programs and because they are pieces, you can use them however works for you. We did the grammar portion of MCT and worked on a Literature single from Brave Writer at the same time. You could even sprinkle in writing projects along the way. We are currently working through the Building Language portion of MCT and still doing literature singles from Brave Writer. The writing activities we have done in MCT so far have been very short. Like write a simile or write a rhyming poem. Nothing that would be too much to do alongside Brave Writer writing projects. Hope that helps! Thanks for watching!

We've done some of the quills and I'm wondering how the darts or arrows compare. Can you expand on how they are similar/different?
@Homeschoolology Жыл бұрын
I would say they are pretty similar, but the darts/arrows have a little more structure to them. You will be talk about more specific things rather than broader topics. So a little more focus. But if you like Quills you will like Darts/Arrows! I could do a video if you think that would help?

I’m thinking of using the literature singles for my 7th grader next year. Do you think this is something he could read through and do on his own?
@Homeschoolology5 ай бұрын
No not really. The text is written to the teacher. It would be something that you would have to work on together. He could read the book himself, but you would need to read the lessons and do some instructing. But they don't really take us very long at all. Hope that helps!
