I remember watching this at school and having to do worksheets on it. But watching now as a 52 year old on KZbin living in Singapore!

This made me quite emotional. What a beautiful family who lived through some tumultuous times.

We never had anything like this when I was at school, in fact we didn't have television in school. But I do remember going with the school to a local theatre to watch the coronation on a big screen for the silver jubilee. This series wasn't on television either as far as I know (this was New Zealand, and we didn't have a television anyway although the neighbours did) but I agree with others below that it should be compulsory watching as part of the school curriculum nowadays, and it should be shown on television at a time when people are likely to watch. I heard about growing up during the war and immediately afterwards from mum and dad and have always known times were tough but modern kids/teens have no idea. It would do them good to realise just how lucky they are, especially at this time (2020/21) and maybe realise that being asked to wear a simple cloth mask in public to help save lives is nothing compared to having to take your gas mask - which mum said smelt of rubber and always made her feel ill every time they had gas mask drill at school - everywhere you went, and have regular drills to ensure that if you needed to, and thank God they never did, you knew how to put it on properly.

The 1954-1970 series in also on KZbin, it features members of the family from this series as well as members of the family from the 1902-1926 series, including the brilliant and much-missed Bobby Knutt as Albert Selby.

@@jacqulineedwards7750 I'm sure you will enjoy the episodes. The 1954-70 series is my favourite and Albert Selby is brilliant, although the 1965 episode has a tragic end for Avril and Laurence

Hi would anyone know which episode it was when they brought a new born baby home and placed it in a draw for a crib? A link would be great, the child was my brother, it would of been filmed in 1975 . We lived next door to a lady called Hillary who got mg brother the small part, I think she worked in costume department. Thanks
