It sounds cool when you alternate the blushda and the Hertha and use them together.

Shoot, I thought I was going into a Steve Smith video. Even with that, I wasn't disappointed with what you showed me.

Great. I’ve seen a blushda written a few way . But I think of it essentially as a non - alternating flam drag . Right ? Thanks & thanks for you cool musically interpretations .

When you want to learn the Blushda, I think it's an easier way to see it as a Triplet-Fill, or even easier: an eight-note fill in 6/8. The Blushda repeats after 3 strokes, so why thinking in 16th notes? It means that you play 3 over 4, which can be quite difficult for "Blushda-Beginners".

I think just because it's gnarly by nature. It just doesn't fit well one blushda per beat. I do agree with you though.

What bass drum is that? Sounds killer.

You sound great! Hey Louie... I propose that these are not Blushda's at all - but rather Bushda's (when you play the flam in the front together). Blushda's have a distinct flam in front... and Balushda's have a wider flam (sometimes preceded by a kick). Tony is the first I know who played the Blushda with a wide splashy hat to great effect (I'm sure there are many others and as you mentioned... Steve Smith followed). Tony called them Reverse Drag Flams (see the Dawson book). Cheers and keep it up. I LOVE your playing!

why is it call Blushda ? in fact the ride cymbal sounds great, what cymbal is it ? :)
@blueburnsred9 жыл бұрын
+Andrés Loaysa The name is kind of like paradiddle in that saying it sounds like the fill itself. When he's playing one in the video, say "blushda" along with it. It's pretty clever!

why is he not flamming?
@schmarotzke82059 жыл бұрын
+heh For me the flam is just an optional/additional note that you CAN add if the fill itself works out for you.

Yeah that's what I thought at first. But I guess the only difference is which hand the diddle is played on.

Very nice... On a totally different note...your bass drum sound is unacceptable...the fact that you don't hear how it is horribly out of tune and horribly mic'ed and mixed is beyond me...That overtone makes me want to gouge out my eyes and eat them. 😘
