It’s tragic that Netflix is making a big deal about just the Henry Sugar short, ignoring the other three shorts in the series (The Swan, The Ratcatcher, and Poison). The other three are just as brilliant and complicated this first one beautifully. They really ought to be viewed as an anthology film and seen together.

I watched the other three films just recently. I struggle as to determine whether Poison or The Ratcatcher is my favorite: the tense atmosphere of Poison is especially compelling, with a suitably shocking climax that acts as an intriguing antithesis to the story of Henry Sugar, while The Ratcatcher is more mundane in its setting, but in a subtly disturbing fashion that's wonderfully cemented with the last line. The Swan for me was a bit harder, as it seemed more like a magical realism piece with little to say, but after reading the wonderful article The New Yorker wrote about the entire collection, I can understand and appreciate the subtext. Overall, the collection was great, but I would've preferred if they had kept all the films in one movie, as with Pulp Fiction.

I just saw them. I wouldn't necessarily state them as better than this. This was truly in a different league. Besides, netflix might not have intended to show this is positive light. They just wanted to build hype on at least one. And this isn't a bad choice at all according to me.

I can’t believe the video doesn’t acknowledge Richard Ayoade - he was such a good fit for BOTH of the roles he played in this! (And the one he played in _The Rat Catcher_ as well.)

Love his quirky movies. The Grand Budapest Hotel, The Fantastic Mr Fox, etc. So many of his past movies show up in this short movie. Definitely a movie that deserved to win an Oscar!🎉🎉🎉

it's funny how wes anderson thinks roald dahl "made up" that story about supernatural powers born out of concentration. they are not made up, they are very real, especially the part of how hard they are to develop. but candle staring meditation is called tratak and skeleton meditation is a real thing. in general when you develop deep levels of concentration - samatha, you will randomly attain extraordinary abilities as a byproduct. most buddhists and yogis however, don't do it for the purpose of fame or material gain. general samatha can lead to see through your own and/or other people's skeletons, but i don't know that they can necessarily see all the organs as well as an MRI and spot a clot.

-Wes Anderson’s- Roald Dahl’s “The Wonderful Story of Henry Sugar” Yes, I know it’s his version. But it’s still not his. Whilst I’m at it, The Jungle Book is not Walt Disneys. Neither is Winnie the Pooh, Mary Poppins or Peter Pan.

Honestly not that amazing. Certainly pales in comparison to the short story. I don't see how Anderson actually likes them when his version is so irreverent.
