Y'all really want a decent argument then you need to stop thinking that white privilege means you don't go through heartache like everyone else. White privilege is when a black man and a white man walk into a store and the store assistants go to the white guy first assuming that they have more money without even realizing that's what's there assuming. While the cop eyes the black guy to make sure he doesn't steal something. But he's doing it subconsciously.

Easy way to think about White Privilege, it isn’t advantages they are born with. It’s disadvantages they aren’t. They can be just as poor, sad, bewildered, but they’ll never feel the disadvantages people of color have and explaining them just makes them feel like the struggles they do have are being belittled. Part is just not wanting to feel like you are unequal; it’s a bit of an ego hit to know you are struggling this much and that others struggling more are doing as well or better. Other part is people stoking the fires by saying people are just making it up, or exaggerating, or that whites have it worse now that people recognize the privilege and don’t let it slide anymore.

White privilege is a social phenomenon intertwined with race and racism.[1] The American Anthropological Association states that, "The 'racial' worldview was invented to assign some groups to perpetual low status, while others were permitted access to privilege, power, and wealth."[19] Although the definition of "white privilege" has been somewhat fluid, it is generally agreed to refer to the implicit or systemic advantages that people who are deemed white have relative to people who are not deemed white. Not having to experience suspicion and other adverse reactions to one's race is also often termed a type of white privilege.[2] The term is used in discussions focused on the mostly hidden benefits that white people possess in a society where racism is prevalent and whiteness is considered normal, rather than on the detriments to people who are the objects of racism.[20][21] As such, most definitions and discussions of the concept use as a starting point McIntosh's metaphor of the "invisible backpack" that white people unconsciously "wear" in a society where racism is prevalent.[22][8][23]

White people are constantly being reminded of their skin colour, videos like this very one go on about it. It is massively racist to make any assumption of the quality of a person’s life based on their skin colour ESPECIALLY, by someone completely unable to experience it or make that contrast. I would never, ever do that to a black person. Every day - EVERY FUCKING DAY - I’m reminded to feel guilty about being white, or being man, mistrusted, not fully being able to celebrate my tiny successes because of it, being turned down for jobs because my skin colour doesn’t Match the diversity quotas. It’s fucking sickening - this is white privilege. And when it’s preached by rich black celebrities, and heard by poor white people struggling to feed their families, it’s like a punch I. The stomach.

In fact it was quite recent when they had their first colored president Nelson mandela. I’m not saying your wrong when it comes to diversity in countries like China and Korea, but in the US, we see a lot more minorities because of forced migration from slavery and voluntary migration from industrialization, and globalization. It’s all about the culture, politics, and development in different countries, so it is hard to compare them when they are different in their own ways. Ecspecially when you are talking about ethnic make up and race. I do see the argument that you are trying to make, but nobody’s perfect, so every country is going to have its problems. Instead of comparing our country to other countries to make us look better, we should actually to fix our problems instead of pointing fingers. Right?

I was disqualified for receiving Medicaid (even while pregnant I was disqualified twice) and any other government assistance because we "make too much money" even though we had to cash in change to buy food more times than I can count... pre-pandemic. If I was a black unmarried woman, I would qualify for ALL of the government assistance programs. I actually went down to the DCF office to try to dispute my assistance rejection, and while I was waiting the 2 hours it took for me to be helped, I asked around. I spoke to roughly 20 other women my age with kids who were mostly black, also some hispanic, and every single one of them were there to renew their benefits (welfare, medicaid, and food stamps). The concept of “white privilege” originally was a poorly written hypothetical concept, not a peer reviewed theory. It was popularized by a pseudo-intellectual named Peggy Mcintosh, she was far from an expert on the subject she wrote about. I don’t disagree that systemic racism is historically real, nor do I make the argument oppression never existed but the concept of “white privilege” doesn’t accurately describe the events of the past (or take into account diversity of cultures within what we now call “white”). A better concept to describe systemic injustice is simply to say “oppression”. Throughout history, ruling elites and/or majority populations have oppressed the minority population and/or the poor. A couple examples of her idea of “white privilege” were being able to buy a bandaid in Caucasian skin tone (if this is a “benefit”, I’ll be happy to give it up for the cartoon imaged bandaids). Another “white privilege” was having the knowledge that rooms you were about to walk into would be filled with majority “white” people (something which isn’t true depending on where you live or a thought any reasonable non racist person has). Someone already pointed out to me that my “white privilege” is also knowing my name would never hold me back from a job interview, interesting that anyone thinks “Salvatore” (my actual name) is considered “white”, while “Sam” (my nickname, anyone of any race can choose a nickname) gets many more job interviews. There are interesting studies suggesting name biases are not necessarily racial bias but instead class and perceived educational bias. There is a danger that by talking about inequality as an all-consuming phenomenon, we will end up creating an inaccurate image portrayal that all people of one race in all situations and all contexts are benefiting from unearned advantages. When we talk about inequality, it is important to understand that is not the status of all individuals from any single race, nor is it at all times. Another often overlooked danger is blaming all people of one race for all racial injustice throughout history. By virtue of birth an entire race is now responsible for the horrific crimes some committed in the past. By virtue of birth, because of your skin color, your voice should now be silenced (you are not allowed to speak against violence in our communities)... and this isn’t racist?? Fighting racism with racism isn’t goIng to lead to a better society for all (a “we” society).

patrick gartner being black also comes with privilege. Ie affirmative action (applies to colleges and workplaces as employers are desperate for more diversity and will be handed a job or college despite being less qualified), the ability to say or do whatever they want and If someone speaks out against it they’re “racist” athletic ability (free college, nba/nfl careers), the lists could go on. Also most things people consider “white privilege” are either EXTREMELY stupid like bandaid color and shampoo (most bandaids don’t match white skin either) or also apply to a significant portion of black people (I can name 5 black tv channels, artist, actors a lot faster then I could name 5 white ones and I’m sure a lot of other people could to)

What I still struggle to understand is why all those things (from getting into taxi to the benefit of the doubt) should be called "privilege". Aren't those just NORMAL rights and opportunities in any decent country? Instead of whining about white ppl having them, may be it would be better to start thinking what we should do so that black ppl would have them too? What you are saying reminds how a person with some illness would whine about the opportunities of a healthy person, instead of making an effort to improve his own health. That guy with the taxi - you can easily see why the taxi don't stop. Dress the same guy in a nice suit, teach him some manners and the taxi will stop for him (someone should do this experiment!). So it's not about color, it's about culture and education.

if one group of people have certain advantages when compared to another group of people, that is a privilege. Everyone has some kind of advantage compared to someone else, and some kind of disadvantage. If the people who are advantaged in one way or another don’t acknowledge that fact then nothing will change and society will never be equal. Saying you have an advantage doesn’t negate the struggles you’ve been through, it’s just acknowledging the struggles of others as well :)

Not surprising that she didn't give any explanations for the supposed "facts" that she was spouting. Like only 1% of dispensaries are owned by blacks, so that makes the viewer assume that the other 99% are owned by whites, but that is not the case. What about all of the Asians, Latinos, etc who own dispensaries? Non-whites own around 20% of the dispensaries. Still doesn't sound good, right? Well, since the country is 60% white, you would expect the number to be pretty high for white owners. And, dispensaries were not allowed by law in many places where urban crime was rampant (urban as in where a high percentage of blacks live), so that would increase the odds of whites owning even more of them. And yes, whites generally have more money than blacks, but that is typical where the majority race in a country will always have more money than the minority races. So, yet again, this is just common sense.

I'm a 65-year-old white male and let me tell you a story that happened to me and my 4 white friends. I was 18 in my senior year of H.S. back in 1977. One Friday night in late May, we all hopped in a car with plenty of smoke and beer and was heading down to King's Island Amusement Park Near Cincinnati. We lived in the Columbus, Ohio area and we had to drive off course to pick up a friend in a small town called Circleville. Like I stated, I was 18 and because I wasn't drinking, I was the designated driver. We picked up the friend in Circleville and made our way back to I-71 South to reach our destination. My 4 companions were having a great time on the way down and when pulling into park at K.I. I'm sure our car looked like something out of a Cheech and Chong movie. It was about 7pm when we arrived, and the park was going to be open to graduating H.S. seniors until 3 am. My friends were all shit faced and I remember walking by a pizzeria and a couple friends picking up pieces of pizza that were left behind by the occupants. Since I wasn't drinking my mind was clearly functioning of our actions that night. While waiting in line for the big coaster, The Beast, the song Rock and Roll Fantasy by Bad Company came on. I can remember all these teenagers rushing towards the entrance to the ride, jumping in front of others to get on quicker. The night winds down and we are out in the parking lot when the biggest break of that day occurs. We run into a classmate that lost his ride and we crammed 3 in the front and 3 in the back. The kid who owned the car was sobered up, so he decided to drive his car home. We're heading up I-71 North and I'm dozing off when I hear screams and we were heading towards a road sign on the interstate. The driver had dozed off too and was awakened in time to avoid a crash. Everyone decided that I was the guy to continue the 100-mile trek north. We had to drop our friend off in Circleville, so we exited the interstate towards Circleville. I was really tired, and I must have been swerving left of center. When we entered the town of Circleville, a policeman and deputy sheriff were waiting. Some truckers had noticed my eroded driving skills and notified law enforcement. After describing my issue of being up for over 24 straight hours and heading back to the police vehicle to perform a sobriety test, the officer draws his weapon and along with the sheriff, orders everyone out of the vehicle. I'm about 30 yards back and witnessing the other 5 guys hands up against the vehicle. Come to find out, one of my friends reached under the seat and law enforcement thought he might be reaching for a gun. Out from under the seat comes the deputy holding a bong. Our extra friend, the one who needed the ride went into action. He mentioned to the two law enforcement officers that his dad had recently been an army recruiter in town. Besides him and our other friend, I'm not sure any of the rest of us had ever been in this town. They mentioned that they knew his dad really well. Their demeaner towards us seemed to change. They stated that there was enough residue in the bong's bowl to arrest us. He then mentioned that the judge would just slap us on the wrist and decided to confiscate the bong and set us on our way home. We were really relieved about our luck and eventually made it home safe. I never thought much of it but when the topic of white privilege comes about, I wonder if we'd been treated differently by some small-town law officers if we were black. I don't know but what do you think? If we were black teens, would we have been treated differently? Maybe it was our friend's name dropping his father. Maybe it was a combination of the two. What do you think?

What is Privilege? a) Privilege is wearing $200 sneakers when you’ve never had a job. b) Privilege is wearing $300 Beats headphones while living on public assistance. c) Privilege is having a Smartphone with a Data plan, which you receive no bill for. d) Privilege is living in public subsidized housing where you don’t have a utility or phone bill and where rising property taxes, rents and energy costs have absolutely no effect on the amount of food you can put on your table, which is largely covered by Government Food Stamps. e) Privilege is having free health insurance for you and your family that's paid for by working taxpayers who often can't afford proper health coverage for their own families. f) Privilege is having multiple national organizations promoting and protecting just your race alone -- that are subsidized by federal tax dollars. g) Privilege is having access to a national college fund that supports only one race. h) Privilege is having a television network that supports only one race. i) Privilege is having most of the media news networks refuse to cover incidents wherein one race (one-eighth of the population) commits 50% of the crimes. j) Privilege is the ability to go march against, and protest against anything that triggers you, without worrying about calling off from work and the consequences that accompany such. k) Privilege is having as many children as you want, regardless of your employment status, and be able to send them off to daycare or pre-school you don’t pay for. l) Privilege is being able to vote in many states without showing a driver's license, voter ID card or other credentials -- just because your race claims they should be exempt from such requirements. m) Privilege is being able to riot, loot, commit arson and tear down historic monuments without consequences -- just because you don't like folks such as Columbus, U. S. Grant or even Lincoln. n) Privilege is being able to get into almost any college of your choosing based on your race, not your grades or merit o) Privilege is having most of your life paid for by the working men and women who DO HAVE TO DEAL WITH RISING TAXES AND COSTS! you know, those you now call “PRIVILEGED.”

The truth is white privilege means that white people are seen as individuals not as a collective group. They have there Caucasian features to make them look human while black and brown people are seen as apes who have not evolved into full humans. It does not mean that white people are born rich or they do not experience hardship in their life, but there light skin protects them from racial profiling. They are not seen as a threat, for example if you been to the continent of Asia. Countries like Cambodia, Indonesia, Malaysia, Phillipines, South Korea, Thailand, Vietnam and so on you would notice being white is seen as beautiful & normal because they are obsessed with skin bleaching so they could be white to have light skin. White Privilege does not mean your life has not been hard it means that the colour of your skin isn’t one of the things that makes it harder. There is a quote that goes “when you are accustomed to privilege, equality feels like oppression.”

One last comment: If person "A" calls person "B" a racist, and person "B" ISN'T a racist, it means that person "A" IS a racist....so be careful what unfounded accusations of racism you make or you'll find the nearest racist is in the nearest mirror.

It works this way "take something that has a few examples and use it to remove and responsibility from a community from their own actions, inaction and attitude" and give it a charged name. Thats how it works.
