Insurance is not a guarantee; you pay for others, not yourself It operates like a legal Ponzi system. If too many claims come in and the company attempts to pay them all, it loses investors, goes bankrupt, and still cannot cover everything. The only way out of this system is to be responsible and save money for potential disasters in your life. Avoid getting involved in things you do not understand, and do not place blame on any one person, as it is counterproductive and unhelpful to society at large.

When these kinds of things happen, it’s a moment for humanity to open its eyes to all the obstructions we’ve created for ourselves. Even if the insurance companies had the money to cover the damage, money and the ideology of profit and individualism itself is what holds humanity back during crisis like this. The resources are there. The people to help are there. There’s plenty for everyone to have their homes rebuilt. What’s missing is the willingness to cut through the barriers we’ve built around helping each other. The barriers of money, profit and individualism. This is a chance to look back at how life used to be in the past. We don't need to look that far, in the 1800s, when natural disasters struck, people came together. Communities helped each other rebuild their homes because they valued connection and survival above anything else. But now, the lack of those values has put walls between us, literally walls that stop us from stepping up when things like this happen. I think it is time for a wake up call, to reevaluate the world we’ve built. We've seen this before during the Great Depression. The food and resources were there, but the systems and ideologies we clung to held us back from helping each other. It is literally when disasters occur that the ideology mask falls down and we are literally clueless, and do not know what to do. The answer is right there in front of us.

Change the building code to require the use of fire resistance materials to clad the house. To offset the higher initial cost, insurance company should provide discount for buildings constructed of noncombustible materials on the exterior..

California has mandated home insurance money coverage to cover dropped insurance policies. The backup called the FAIR Plan allows people to get insurance and the plan includes taking money from private carriers . If that's not enough, then increasing cost to all policyholders to cover what's needed
