I truly believe that the zero cost zone abilities are a one off. It coincided with the "second" launch of the game at Christmas. EA wanted something that the new players could reasonably chase during the Christmas break and keep alot of people engaged and wanting to log back in everyday. That will lead to a major let down for the next event. Which is why I went all in on the GoG event, and will now be acquiring resources for TOTY event and skipping the 2000's event.

I don’t know why everyone thinks it will go back to costing ability points after GOG. We only have 10 and it goes up 2 every month. I think from here on out all msps will have no cost and all other players from the event will. This aucks for me as i have half my team as fantasy players but it seems logical this way.

Yo Sleeves! Just wanted to slip in a big thanks for the honest review of the comedy duo of GOG Bret Hull and Ray Bourque. What an absolute riot. I don't think I've laughed this hard playing the game in all year. I truly enjoy swinging the sticks with a giant smile on face when Brett dots in a nearside corner on goalie with nothing more than a flick of the right stick. Then Ray tosses one from the blue line where the goalie ends up on their rear end struggling to get back up. Who's there with the punch line? Our buddy Brett hammering in the rebound. Absolute comedy. Makes the game so enjoyable. Fast skating be damned if the wife has to come in and ask "what's so funny" with NHL 25 on the tv.

I don’t think they have to necessarily come out with a better event than gallery of greats this Friday .. it’s the gallery of greats some of the best to play the game they should have free abilities yes it’s sucks cause we hope the free ability’s should be on the chase cards but I really think it was cool they did this for the gallery of greats and I don’t think they need to follow up the event with another event with free ability’s .. just makes the gallery of greats some of the best cards in the game which they should be it’s the greats !

Also if i should make Coffey or blake 89 hull - 87 barkov - 89 mcdavid 87 barzal - 88 suzuki - 89 kuch 87 howe - 89 jt miller - 89 sakic 87 yzerman - 89 joe - 87 hagel 88 dougie - 89 borque 93 asp - 90 hedman 89 zubov - 87 power I know my rw guys are lower rated but not that much affordable options on the market. My concern with yzerman is that his 87 (UT) doesnt feel the best when i play with him as well in hut moments when testing 89 yzerman. But that could just be AI since he gets knocked off the puck easily and gets tied up on faceoffs frequently. On the other hand my concern with messier is 58 discipline is brutal. I stick check alot so i dont want to take that many penalties. Im just very tempted to make one of them just because 99 faceoffs. For d men i would plan to replace dougie for blake or power for coffey. I guess i would keep them for fodder for toty. I got super lucky that i pulled zubov borque and sakic in the 84+ + 20 collectibles pack 3 out of 4 packs i opened. I also have almost 300k coins. Thoughts on how to improve my team. Thanks!

Made Hull and Yzerman which I'm pretty happy with as a redwings fan. Have enough collectibles to make the 3 86s needed for another MSP, but not sure who to go for or just do the 83+ packs because I quite like my team at the moment? On defence I have ASP, Ekholm, Seider, Keller, Hedman and 87 Gonchar. Lefty/center Yzerman, XF Mcdavid, dvorsky, Gretzky, Hossa, Thornton Also I don't think gold quick draw has any greater affect than silver, as I've been losing non counters to Messier, pretty sure I noticed this happening last year too. Hey Sleeves, Lineup question: I'll be able to make one more GoG player, and like everyone else I really need a right hander, but there are no more to make. That leaves me with a tough decision for my D lines. My lineup is as follows: Hull (GoG), Yzerman (GoG), McDavid (FF), Suzuki (FF), Thornton (Titan), Kucherov (XF) McKinnon (85 Sup) Divorski, Miller (FF) Panarin (Titan), Barkov (PtN), Hughes (86 CA) Zubov (GoG), Ekholm (93) ASP, Chara (85 Sup) McAvoy (85 GB), Heiskenen (XF) I should be getting Hedman today. I'm a Bruins fan and Chara has been absolutely phenomenal, to the point where he still makes the first line on occasion, and I'm reluctant to drop him, but I've really enjoyed Borque the few times I got to use him. I've got buyers remorse on Zubov and should've taken Blake, hindsight. The real question is, do I just make Blake anyway and probably move Zubov to the 3rd line and running over anyone trying to come down the other side of the ice, or do I make Borque and drop Chara, assuming Hedman plays the same as Chara but better?

I may be in the minority, but I like BND as a cheaper option in packs for upgradable / fantasy cards. It’s a cool way for casuals to get their fix while the high end guys can can off as they usually do.

Sorry to say this but I see some contradictory here. Many ask if there will ever be a bnd set and you say the tech is not there for it but then ask EA to put a storage set to help with the autofill. If BND’s can go in a storage set, then for certain they can make a set to trade in. Also this doesn’t really brake the game as much as another broken item with the market. Please share this with all that have encountered this glitch that has you restart the game all the time. If you go to your collection and filter the OVERALL and post, then go to the auction and filter the overall and search, you are greeted with a complete blank left side and cannot do anything at all. Once you witness this for the 20th time, it makes you feel that bnd is just a little hiccup. Sorry sleeves, i am not trying to be negative, i just feel bnd’s will be broken for the rest of the year with no fix unless EA mid year finds a way to turn all bnd’s into untradable cards which would have us all loving EA for the bitter sweet moment.

Hey Sleeves. Long time follower, first time KZbin commenter. Question and a XP season 2 grinding tip. How long do you think the 86 Team Builders will be even remotely usable? With the discounted 2x 83 team builders, I could make my favorite player (Koivu) and since he doesn't really have any other cards, I'm considering making him. If only EA allowed Team Builders to have free abilities... For those grinding away the XP path while completing the Gallery of Greats event, I was needing a left hand D so I went with Coffey. Thanks to GOG Coffey being an Edmonton Oilers icon, his goals count towards the Bonus XP objectives. Pounded away 25 goals with Coffey and now got myself another left handed D in Hedman

Hey sleeves, I have just built lemuix after having saved up all my 76-80 ovr players for the s2 xf that we thought would come a month ago, now have made 4 GoG 2 Icons and xf Mcdavid and have a modern icon pack just sitting in my inbox (waiting for someone to get a good 89+ upgrade) and it has made my team insanely op all my top 2 lines has full abilities and top 2 d pair. Soon if they keep on this trend the game will be unfair to new players. With the 0 AP players their value is as you say making players who you have to use AP on worthless practically.

Currently have: GoG Yzerman, Holo Gretz, XF Mcdavid SOTM Necas, Thornton, FF Kuch Barzal, Miller, TOTW Hagel Eichel, Barkov, Hawerchuk I want to use Yzerman at Centre, but that throws off my RH balance. I have enough TOTW to get SOTM Mackinnon, but that means giving up tradeable TOTW 88 Crosby and untradable 87 Hagel and I'm not sure it's worth it. Sleeves, prices of 86s are going to tank after this event.. free gold abilities and Xmas players are the main driver of the prices.. next event is a buyers market IMO (unless its just as good). Xmas crash was the time to buy bc 86s were going for 25-30k. So sell 86s now and buy them back after this event.. especially if u aren't using them

Coffey on the left side is op. Free zone entry and tape to tape w 99 passing lets you cross crease or hit your rd with a green fn. also has decent hitting because of his skating speed. Best card in the event by far.

I have a bittersweet relationship with this game now, just based on content. Couldn't agree more that they shot themselves in the foot with the Gallery of Greats MSPs. I have effectively given up on pursuing TBs to their max (OVR 98) - capping myself at the next upgrade of 92 OVR. Lack of consistency and/or logic with this content is frustrating to say the least.

Those packs have been great for me. Got Werenski and Suzuki from them which helped me make McDavid for free. Then got SOTM Necas from one and some 86s. For starting a week and a half ago, my teams looking pretty good

Hypothetically, if McDavid and Kuch got TOTY cards and their X-factor cards can be used to make them. Do you think using McDavids x-factor to make his TOTY card would give something special/additional since McDavids x-factor card is so much harder to get than Kuch’s. I keep thinking McDavids TOTY card would have free AP but then what’s the point of even making Kuch’s TOTY card if it doesn’t separate itself from his X-factor since upgrade collectables are dirt cheap. Thoughts?

Meowwwww hi sleeves, I've noticed the usual meta of giants on D, are not a thing in NHL 25. Hedman is already off my team in favor of a smaller, faster dman with gold elite edges. Anyone else feel this way?

Yup hedman is my worst d man . Zubov , bourque, sieder, pelika , even power is performing better for whatever reason ( goals , assist , plus / minus

Yeah, I've noticed the size advantage/disadvantage is far less noticeable than past years. Smaller players seem to hit as hard as larger players. The being big advantage has been significantly diminished imo. I've got some huge players that get ragdolled by way smaller players. Not a good change, because the big guys are usually weaker skaters in exchange for being able to give and take hits better than smaller players, not they don't have that advantage, yet they still have the slow skating disadvantage.

Yah I have hedman slotted in now 3rd pairing just to try and use him. But honestly will probably replace him again with 86 cover Quinn hughes as I just love that card.

No trade in really man , just buy them if you can. Knock out the person deke achievements on squad battles and that should get you enough to buy at least one then just grind wild card , collect your daily collectibles and make another 86 if you can .

Wait for Thursday night or Friday before 5pm. I noticed cards tend to start dipping once the new event is about to come out because people are saving coins in order to be ready for it. 55k is too much and will get under 48k by then.

They can just make these cards a bit better without free zone abilities and it's still a good event. The changes this year to AP were terrible. They need to go back to more variance between ability costs and increase the AP so we have more diversity and customization. So many abilities are going completely unused because everything costs pretty much the same even when the abilities are vastly different in value. The whole point of HUT is custom teams and this dev team does not seem to understand this. Give us choice. When you offer rewards, give us choice packs not a set player. Let us choose the abilities on our cards, don't create a system where they are automatically the same on everybodys card (with the free AP thing) or by default due to cost (nobody is choosing gold tape to tape for the same points it costs for gold wheels for example).

You are giving EA way too much credit when you say they don't know how to use BND sets. They showed on day one that they did with the McDavid set. That was to Trojan Horse them into the game as an excuse to make rewards like objective players less helpful in the long-term. They know exactly what they're doing and they're simply cutting down on cards to add to your collection in a useful while not reducing the number of "free" cards and things to chase. Also they have been generous with "free" MSPs(which has been great honestly) but are giving out so many BND so we can't stack our collection with useable fodder and have to constantly be chasing the new release. As you rightly pointed out the Barzal trade in and the Frozen Forces trade in would have utilized them if EA implemented them "correctly." But it's not incompetence it's reminiscent of them slowly moving everything to untradable years ago. I appreciate you calling their handling of BND out but I doubt it's accidental. Describing them as not having the "tech" for a BND set also seems charitable. However, I also think it's silly people keep asking if we can use them in sets because the whole point is that you can't. If they were implemented like the X Factor set suggested they would, that'd be fine. Sorry for the ranty post I'm grinding moments miserably while listening to this video. Thanks for the videos! They definitely help with HUT chores.

@NoWhammyY2K it's a speed glitch using the left trigger button when u come out of protecting the puck. Seen it on KZbin. Easy to find. I started using it helped me win close games but I try not to include it in my game play.. but hard to now
