A little different perspective here. I am a government worker, we are not the problem. We want to do our jobs, congress makes it impossible to do so. They have not passed a budget in the 15 years I have worked for the government. My office has never been fully staffed so everyone is forced to work overtime. Often times we have to sit and do nothing for lack of funding to do our basic jobs. Again because congress refuses to do their job and pass a budget when they are supposed to to so we have to work off CR which throws chaos into everything because those doing the budgeting have no idea what they are going to be working with for the year. Also the amount of regulatory hoops we have to jump through just to be able to do our jobs is a nightmare. They (congress) make it easier to go to work and sit and do nothing than to do your job. If you want to do your job in the federal government you literally have to fight those above you to be allowed to do your work. It is pretty insane.

The Treasury Department is wasteful! The mint pays 3 cents to mint a penny and 10 cents to mint a nickel! Let’s stop minting pennies and use the ones we have. Find a cheaper way to mint a nickel. Why can’t a nickel be minted for the 3 cents we pay for a penny? I read that the mint made State quarters to encourage coin collecting! Coins are utilitarian. Encouraging people to remove coins from circulation is asinine!

The good comes when we use common sense: Family of two small children pay 1/2 of their income to daycare, they need to work over time, and bad for kids to come home from school hours, mom works 8-10 hours at night, dad works 8-10 hours at night shift. They don't see each other. And the inflation will dry out our saving to buy the 1st home, renting and having auto insurance are up almost double we use to pay for. Our seniors have to work for paying all cost, but some youngers Z- generation 18 to 26 years old don't have to work because they have welfare EBT cards to stay away from working! Everyday I drive to work and see the sign on the board our national debt $36 trillions! No tax on tips, no tax for seniors, sounds good! Stop two wars, close borders! Make us safer! Save money for our raining day in case of emergency, the medical bills are rocket high! I speak about all small children, we need to look at them how they grow without mom and dad when they come home from school hours! And single parents are putting kids to grandparents to care for them!

As a government employee I can say that we are severely under paid in comparison to the same jobs in Private Industry. So working from home saves us A LOT. In CA as an engineer I make as much as my 22 year old who works at McDonald's. Literally. Also, not all jobs require you to go into work at an office. What I do is is actually negatively impacted by a long commute to work. I get more done in the 3 hours I would normally spend in traffic

Oh I was the last hired so I was the first to be let go.
