I don't agree with the blanket statement that men should NEVER be stepfathers. It depends on the situation. What if the father has kids of his own? Couldn't it be a mutually beneficial relationship if the man becomes a stepfather and the woman becomes a stepmother? I think becoming a stepfather can be ok but you just have to be extra careful. You have to make sure the woman is high quality and didn't make poor choices in her previous relationship. You also have to make sure her kids are good and won't be a headache. If the mother raised kids with behavioral problems, then thats obviously a red flag for both the mother and the kids. My mother died when I was 7 years old. I would have liked to have a good mother figure in my life. Everyone talks about kids growing up without fathers. What about kids without mothers?
