Its very nearly most of the way there. Sprinkle in some belief of the superiority or inferiority of certain racial groups and you've got yourself a textbook definition. How yesterday's fighters against racism so seamlessly morphed into supporting ideologies that treat individuals as nothing more than the sum of their group memberships astonishes me.

This is going to teach me that all pigs are equal but some pigs are more equal than others, isn't it? Or in other words, our common tendency to think "I could be him! Or, I want to be" but also "I could never be *one of them,* and wouldn't want to be.".

Interesting (if not obvious) observation and one I can see in my own thinking. As the tribal creatures we are, those lumped into a group somewhat give me impression that they helped each other reach their successes and left everyone else behind. Groups often gatekeep based on arbitrary reasons such as friend/family connection or status and not accomplishments or talents.

What is wrong with these comments lmao. Its a fairly interesting point to consider. While individualism is good- too much of it is quite harmful in many ways. Too much individualism is a lot more isolating which increases mental health issues. People in US think living with parents is a bad thing but many places, especially in Asia, people live together with their extended family. This community aspect helps manage rent and avoid expensive costs like day care. There are also several issues in life that arent just due to a single person. Climate change, recession, pandemics, systemic oppression- these are issues that affect whole communities and are caused due to whole communities. Individual freedom is necessary but we should avoid too much individualism because that is against the very nature of humans and our most pressing modern day problems.

@@AgoristsRising this is a systemic problem that can only be solved with a systemic solution. When you focus on individual rights and freedoms ( often times in the context of modern inconvenience) than you can fail to see the bigger picture here. When one group causes another group suffering everyone suffers, there is no victor. And doing so only brings prosperity in the short term at too great a cost. If we're going to make things better in the long term, we need everyone on board and isn't that the whole point of democracy. @flameshoter6
@flameshoter6 3 жыл бұрын
In what way if you don't mind me asking? Because your opinion could be anything. Such as going back to the old way and having a draft on young men. Or rather than focusing on trying to make the military attractive to all groups of people, minorities and all, working together (which is being promoted currently). As the military is becoming an all inclusive for our nation. If anything, that would make the military stronger aside from peoples biases and egos. People's biases and egos are what destroy the chance of working with others. You can hate someone with all of your guts, but if it was a life or death situation, I would assume as a man, you would put aside your differences, at least temporarily. Or you could be referring to technology. Because, that would promote individualism because not everyone has the skills to control a drone and hit their targets. As also, some do not have the skills to interrogate or have good logistic skills. Some can't get their target that are a couple miles away based on limitations. However, the most focused approach of individualism would be the ranking system in the military which has kept the U.S stronger for decades until now. Promoting the people who has worked, stayed longer, or lived longer..... But as a group, it still remains a force. As far as I am aware, the military isn't only focused on one person. The word "military" refers to a group. As per a soldier refers to an individual.

By all means, it's horrific and brutal, but because we put our trust in a few elected officials, it doesn't how badly we all want to help them, our elected officials don't need to do anything they don't want to, including supporting Cubans. People are obsessed with familiarity, so much so that they'll elect famous people who really aren't that suitable to run things. So much so that they'll create a monopoly, or millionaires, which in my opinion tend to hoard money or spend it on things that aren't great for the environment and could be better spent helping people who are poor now, or supporting Cubans or anything that would help. They'll usually make their comfort their priority. It has never made sense to me that one person should be allowed to have so much when literally everybody would be so significantly better off if that money were put back into communities. When in use, a $10 bill is worth way more than $10. It's worth $10 every time it's used, and so many people get to make use of that $10. In an extremely rich person's bank account, it will only ever be worth $10. It is not normal to have to work this much just to make ends meet. This economic hoarding is the cause of most of the inflation we're seeing. That money could be helping people now, but instead it's sitting in the account of somebody who really doesn't need it. Of course what's happening in Cuba is terrible, but realistically, none of us get to control anything at all, the %1 gets to decide what we do about it. All we can do is address the issues we might have some control over, and educate ourselves as to how it is in other countries. I don't see how liking this video insinuates that somebody doesn't want people in Cuba to have asylum and peace. We all deserve that. But we can appreciate our fortune while working on whatever flaws or imbalances we can try to correct. And maybe consider how peaceful BLM protesters, in our country, feel. Innocent protesters who just wanted a system to be reformed and regulated better were shot at and beaten, taken in unmarked vehicles, and arrested illegally. A reporter was arrested while he was live, you can find the footage. We're going down a similar path, my friend. That's the point of this video. It does not make sense for 1% to control the whole.

@@laneatkinson6441 what made health care complicated was government intervention. 🍎In the late 19th and 20th centuries, voluntary mutual aid associations existed which operated as a form of self- help insurance company. The medical care they offered were low cost compared to the medical services available on the regular market. But the medical establishment, like the American Medical Association, denounced this practice because the patients, not the physicians, were setting the price for care. They sought help from the government to grant them the monopoly to control medical licensure procedure, which greatly restricted the right to practice medicine and to provide care. Read Roderick T. 2:55 The question should be: Does the group of people in our study prefer dominance by individuals or groups? It's much easier to relate to an individual than every individual in a group. A group is not that relatable because people are individuals not groups. Basically if you want people to treat other people badly, try to get them to view those people primarily as members of a group. Am I alone in wondering why this kind of "Is water wet?" study is getting exposure on TED?

One possible cause may be that a grouping is seen as a tribe. If it does NOT represent your situation (e.g., top 1% income group), you will be naturally be opposed to it (i.e., see it as a threat). If its an individual, the perceived threat is reduced because it's seen as an exception rather than a large force. So the mental reaction is aspirational. How can we use this bias as a force for good? Celebrate representatives of positive social outcomes perhaps ? Something similar to Nobel Prize or Tyler Prize, etc. Keep in mind, it's not the individual themself, but the effort and social/environmental achievement that is being celebrated by the prize. Increase the celebration of individual achievements in social and environmental causes, decrease celebrations in selfish money 💰 earning causes (e.g., Forbes featuring a Billionaire).

Turn to Christ, repent of your sins, and he will give you eternal life. In Christ we are already equal. In Christ we can love all and forgive all even if it's hard sometimes. We are not perfect and none of us deserve any praise but yet Christ came out of his heavenly glory to walk among us and be the perfect sacrificial lamb to take all of our sins past, present, and future onto himself so that they would die on the cross with him. He rose on the third day to show the power he has over his death and ours. Romans 5:8 but God demonstrates His own love for us in that while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.

As far as the United States is concerned, your assertion was correct until 2020. But by the end of 2020, the US saw the sharpest rise in the U.S. poverty rate since the 1960s. That percentage-point rise is nearly double the largest annual increase in poverty since the 1960s. This means an additional 8 million people nationwide are now considered poor. Whether or not that trend can be reversed remains to be seen. It most certainly will not happen without government intervention. People will have to decide if they want to have more and more people fall into poverty or support government assistance to prevent it. It's an ideological choice for most and everyone is entitled to an opinion. However, one thing is not opinion. People aren't going to starve to death or more importantly, watch their families starve. Take a look at South Africa in the past week. Cuba, Haiti, Ethiopia, Lebanon. It's pretty dire and not something that can only happen somewhere else.

what's great about people with LOW IQ is that they make brash comments from the back of the room and then scurry off before anyone can make them prove it. Guessing you're a real Trump booster

Not convinced by this talk. Datas shown have been collected with very few people, only sharing the same occidental culture as everyone else in the crowd. The presentation is lacking a deeper work questioning the effects of capitalism and neoliberalism on individuals' social behaviours and moral conceptions. It's thus creating a "unique verity" that in fact not applies to the entirety of the population : read Pierre Clastres, take datas with non-occidental(ized) individuals and you'll understand how this whole reasoning is flawed at it's roots.

if you step away from the "worship of the individual" one step you end up with American Exceptionalism, i.e. Ayn Rand and Objectivism. Two steps, Authoritarianism. Three? Cultism.
