Well I’m the child of immigrant from the early 70’s, and they are for zero migration, why? Because this new wave of immigrants have no intention to integrate or contribute to the growth of this country. My parents worked hard and have always told us: “how lucky we are to call the UK our home”. They made sure, we learned the value of working hard and to contribute to the country we are living in. This is not the case with the people that are booping over the channel, whom are incompatible with our way of life.

This is typical of what's happening and on a small scale...its what these "minority" interests will eventually do to the whole country. Within my lifetime I believe if things carry on I will see this country's indigenous people pushed to a very far corner of the island if not the sea. We MUST stop selling our country to the lowest bidder from foreign and unfriendly aggressive shores.

Absolutely, i actually think those people who keep saying 'vote reform ' are in cloud cuckoo land, its gone way beyond a ballot box solution, this is a national crisis . Trouble is we have no one , with perhaps the exception of Farage who might dare suggest mass repatriation , having the balls to do it would be a step beyond anyones bottle but in all honesty its the only answer . Oh yes and no further immigration of any type. London itself is a lost cause, Winchester used to be the capital of England , pity it still isn't.

Yes, this country certainly needs a "breather", a halt to all immigration for the foreseeable future, if only just to sort out the current mess. However, we also need to look carefully at the type of immigrants who are allowed to come in the future. Recognising that some, due to a huge difference in culture and values, not to mention the religious aspect, are either unwilling, or unable to integrate successfully into a Western country like Britain. The fact is that we have allowed millions to arrive with all their cultural and religious baggage intact. Then, they often set about trying to recreate the very same, and obviously failed, societies which they left behind, here in Britain. And although enjoying all the opportunities and benefits which Britain has afforded them, many appear to offer neither respect or loyalty in return. In effect, they view our country as merely providing a passport of convenience. The result has been a massive breakdown in social cohesion, all overseen by political elites who are, apparently, indifferent to the chaos which they have brough upon us. Never mind the very real suffering which their disastrous immigration policies have inflicted on us, the majority of ordinary Brits who are most affected by mass immigration.

I never had a problem with immigration in the past, but that was a long time ago. I have a problem with it now, both legal and illegal, because it's uncontrolled and affects everything in our country, our infrastructure, jobs/wages, NHS, education, also our culture, values and traditions. I have no faith or trust in our political parties, and I've long since held the belief that Parliament has betrayed our Constitution and the British people. I also question the treaties we're signed up to as I feel they're not working in our best interests, having caused many of the problems and they should be reviewed. It has to be said too, that multicultural diversity is not working when we see our rights diminished in favour of others with too many demands, and I object to keep being told that we need more migrants to do the jobs British people won't do. I will not accept that. We need to train our own people who have been overlooked and ignored for far too long, and they deserve incentives and opportunities as a priority. I've no intention of voting for ANY party in Parliament, I'm done! We must stop voting for more of the same, so I was very glad to listen to the discussion. Thank you.

Well said ben we need good and decent people in the uk also the citizens of the country, indigenous and those legal should be helped first. If all countries and there leaders were good this immigration and so many other problems shouldnt be happening why do the host country not find out and hold those accountable maybe fine those countries who citizens are leaving. Shame on those traitors and corrupt leaders who fill there pockets while there people are pushed to runaway to other places. The eu and u n many others should be making new laws and rules should also look into why they are so many leaving impose sactions and fine on those pm.

Ben Habib: “We’ll keep on until the people in Westminster listen to mainstream views.” I’m afraid it’s not as simple as that. Because mainstream views are changing for two reasons. Firstly, young people don’t care about immigration. They should because it affects them e.g. their chance of getting at home, but they don’t. Secondly, every year thousands and thousands of immigrants are being added to the electoral roll. The immigration issue is not like the cost of living, the health service, the education system etc. With those issues, we can make terrible mistakes and we can correct them. Mass migration cannot be corrected. It is irreversible. Yes, Labour’s alleged plan to give EU citizens the vote is outrageous and anti-British. But how many people know that Commonwealth citizens already have the right to vote? I find it absolutely mind-boggling that at the next election there will be thousands of Indian students who will have been in the UK for no more than a few weeks who will have the same right to decide the political future of this country as I do. The last Labour government actually commissioned a report on this from Lord Goldsmith, Blair’s attorney general, and he suggested getting rid of the right to vote for non-citizens. But nothing has been done. Surely Reform or the SDP could make an issue of this?

Reform believe in net zero migration, that is, if 400,000 people leave the UK then 400,000 immigrants will be allowed to settle in their place. I explained more in detail in an earlier comment on here that now appears to have been deleted.

You must have selective reading. I never said it was a policy I agreed with just that he actually talked policy whereas Ben played the emotive card only. He couldn't even agree with Tim's own comments. In any case the problem (and why these two parties are somewhat aligned) is that the "left" we have and "right" we have are currently indistinguishable and do not serve the people. I am happy both sides of the aisle can agree on that - they don't have to agree on actual policy

Unless you also have directly elected prime ministers, referenda decisions would still have to be implemented by MPs - we've seen how well that has gone since 2016. Referenda suit Napoleonic/Presidential style government not Parliamentary democracies. But perhaps you want to change the whole system.

Absolutely!! Because we are surely not being represented in parliament!! Nor is the native French receiving true representation. Corruption and betrayal has spread throughout the Western leadership like cancer. But let’s just carry on as you said since it hasn’t gone well a few times on purpose caused by the same people who don’t want you to have referendums in the first place. let’s all just carry on with the status quo because everything is just amazing!! So let’s all give up and never unite to change anything for the better. Sarcasm aside The entire stinking system needs a major overhaul and rebuilding.

Reform and SDP differ more on £££ than on migration. The nation couldn't cope with massive financial and migration changes....do migration first and then amend the financial side more slowly. We can't cope with international free trade when our native population is less productive than it was 20 years ago and reliant on cheap chinese made stuff.

Multicoloured but not multicultural is the only realistic target for the UK now. Put the race baiters to one side, accept that it is more often culture and not race that is the problem. That doesn't mean one should not make cultures and lifestyle which do not assimilate into UK life difficult to sustain... poorly assimilating migrants can be encouraged, by their lack of assimilation, to leave the UK. One needs to turn off the bath taps (reduce all migration) at the same time as providing a wider overflow spout for the water already in the bath.

@@jemmajames6719 overly simplistic way of looking at it. Daley Thompson was a great British athlete, mixed race and never appeared to be anything but British in his culture. I agree with no more immigration, but we already have too many well adjusted and assimilated non-white people to allow the race baiters to expel them. Focus on culture and assimilation. Ben Habib is mixed race but he is pretty British, no??

The conversation here centres around a pressing issue for many British citizens: uncontrolled immigration and its effects on our social fabric. William from the SDP outlines a stark reality-that a nation has the right to govern its borders, a right currently under siege. This isn't simply about legality; it's about the preservation of the social contract. The proposed SDP policy, particularly the idea of an immigration pause, addresses the need for a drastic change to return to social stability, reflecting a sentiment that's grown increasingly prevalent among Britons who value their cultural and national identity. It's a courageous stance in a climate that too often labels such perspectives as unwelcoming or worse. But it’s not unwelcoming to expect respect and assimilation from those seeking to join our British Christian nation-it's a mutual respect for the law and the values that have long underpinned our society. It's encouraging to see that some are willing to challenge the orthodoxy that has led us to this point and to propose tangible solutions that might restore balance and ensure that the needs of the native population are not sidelined.
