Jackson was a winger who got "converted" into a striker at Villareal. He did realy well last year. His coveration rate was lackluster but you cant expect higher numbers consider his recent switch into the forward role. Even if we sign Osihmen he will get enough gametime. Either on the left wing or as a 9 in rotation with Osimhen on top.

Victor Osimhen will give us the presence we have been lacking since Drogba and Diego Costa left. N/ Jackson is good, but he does not have that presence, making defenders to focus their attention on Cole Palmer. When we have Victor Osimhen, defenders will be confused of who to mark between Cole Palmer, Nkunku, and Osimhen. The presence of these three will divide attention of defenders. Same happened when we had Hazard, Mata, and Costa. Another advantage to this is that players like Caicedo, Enzo, Drewsbury Hall, Cucurella, Madueke, and Mudryk will comfortably play without any pressure, because attention of performance on them from fans and media will completely reduce.

Chelsea has 7-8 goalkeepers. Has a lot of defenders, midfielders, wingers, good, average and bad ones. But has no true killer striker. I think Todd Boehly is playing Chelsea on Football Manager. Chelsea is close to field a team of 11 goalkeepers in the field. It also keeps an average of 2 managers per season. With so many changes, surplus players, crazy contracts, etc., I can only see Chelsea balancing between 10th and 6th place, given that most of its players are still good. For a premier league title or other champions league title, I believe only on FM one may conquer that.

Nkunku is not a striker. He’s the French equivalent of Foden or Palmer. We only have Jackson and he needs to play 3 games a month instead of 3 a week. Plus teams have 5 subs. No club only rely on 1 striker to play 90 mins for every match. Jackson will hopefully improve being clinical training with someone like Osimhen everyday.

People said the same thing when they brought in Torres, Lukaku etc... The reality is players have strengths and weaknesses and every system doesn't suite them. Victor has a particular style of play that Chelsea will have to adapt to. Will the players they have be able to do that? Will they thrive in that system or will it allow Victor to be successful but not the team? Kind of like Ronaldo at Utd. It's not as simple as "we need a striker, sign striker, happily ever after"

@ang5491 Didn't Utd and Chelsea "feed" Lukaku? Yet it didn't work. You can feed a striker loads of crosses, but if they aren't skilled at finishing crosses it doesn't work. If a player is slow, feeding them balls into the channels doesn't work. Etc.. my point is the striker, the players behind him and the system has to match up so it takes advantage of everyone's skills. And not favoring 1 over the other which hurts the team.

For me, whenever a manager wants a big man striker like Lukaku, Zlatan, Giroud, Zirkzee, etc. Its because they see that they FIT the purpose of their tactics. Early in the season/in the rumor/pre-season stage, their presence are seen as A PIECE OF THE ATTACKING PUZZLE through one-two touches as walls in channels, or dropping deep for spraying counterattacking through balls like Harry Kane. Their traits and abilities WOULD FIT THE TEAM, THAT'S WHY THE TRANSFER INQUIRIES WERE MADE IN THE FIRST PLACE. Whether they scored a boat load of goals, whether they ended up leaving the club, whether they came into friendly terms with the manager, whether another big man in the team, like Zlatan, was being prioritized (i.e., your Lukaku case), is ANOTHER QUESTION of whether the INVESTMENT WORK OUT. This is my perspective. The "FITTING" part is done before the transfer is made. That's been communicated and AGREED UPON between the manager and the sporting director, as well as between the manager and the player before the transfer was made. Whether they "WORK OUT", is of course another question. That's why I find such question "How would Osimhen fit in the team" rather annoying. Hope you can understand my point.

@ang5491 I get you, but they could be mistaken. Just because they agree that player X does what they want them to do doesn't mean they could misjudge their abilities. I think this is particularly true of Lukaku with Utd and cfc. He was the best option available and had "the numbers" so they thought he was the perfect fit.
