I would buy potatoes and a brick of cheese to shred for baked potatoes and potato skins. I would also get some eggs and flour to make tortillas to turn into breakfast burritos. I would purchase a can of vegetables to go as a side for a few meals. If I get yeast then I can make pizza. I have a stash of packets from various restaurants that I have my friends collect. I can use the salsa in my burritos. I can use marinara sauce packets for the pizza. I have garlic sauce so I can also make a garlic cheese bread. Flour $1.16 Potatoes $3.48 Brick of cheese - $2 Eggs $1.70 Yeast 3 packet strip - 88 cents Can of corn 64 cents I wish that there was more money to get some fruit. Of course, I live on a homestead so I can pick strawberries from the yard right now. And the mushroom section has plenty. So I could make a mushroom frittata when I get desperate.

I miss these types of videos from her as well. She's brilliant in my eyes. Been watching her for a while now. Just picked up bacon today on sale for $3.99 in NY suburbs......👍. Please make us example recipes like you use to....loved those videos from you.

I would make bacon baked beans, bacon sammies, bacon fried rice, bean with bacon soup, bacon mashed potatoes. Definitely german potato salad and cabbage with bacon. The only difference is I would have bought navy beans instead of pintos. But you got quite a haul there for just under $10 and what a deal on that bacon! Great video❤

I, too, really enjoy these videos. The bonus takeaway is it focuses the viewer on choosing one protein for the week or half the week, and instant meal planning begins!

I was so hoping cabbage would make the list. It’s my favorite low carb veggie. If I didn’t have bacon I would get sausage for a stir fry with the cabbage. Thanks for the video!

I would be making fried rice. Dice up the bacon, cook it and then add in a can or less of mixed vegetables, then add day old rice and some soy sauce, cooking it all in the bacon grease. Even if you didh't have oil, you can save the bacon grease and it will give so much flavor to all your dishes. I might even do a fried bacon and cabbage, and top it with an egg. Fried bacon and potatos with beans on the side are always good. cabbage rice and bacon rolls might be good.and even a soup with a little of everything, cabbage, bacon, beans and potatos. You could do egg bakes using the bread, a couple of eggs thinned out with water, and some bacon, and bake them in muffin cups to create individual servings. You could even do fried potato pancakes using the bacon grease. You could do a over easy egg over refried beans, and some sauted cabbage.

Bacon is such a versatile ingredient. I like to make mac & cheese with petite green peas and chopped bacon. It's my secret ingredient for turkey chili, as it adds fat & flavor. Plus you can't go wrong adding it to split pea soup or a soup with beans, like your ingredient for the week. I always admire how to buy your ingredients with intention, and consider their versatility. A technique that is applicable at any budget level! BTW, even though some prices are lower now...a dozen Vital Farms eggs can still be had for $10 in NYC.

I'd fried the bacon all at once and save the fat&drippings for other dishes. Instead of 1lb rice, I'd buy 1box Jiffy cornbread mix & 1 box Jiffy biscuit mix. Make 6 biscuits with eggs or bacon for breakfast. Make 6 cornbread muffins for bacon grease seasoned cabbage soup/stew for dinner. Hardboiled eggs to make egg salad with what you have on hand (mayo, mustard, sweet pickles/ relish) serve on toasted French loaf for lunch. No rice, no pintos. Use more bacon grease to fry cooked cabbage/ bacon on stovetop if needed.

This one is easy because bacon is so versatile 👍. Eggs, bread for breakfast sandwiches, tomato, lettuce for Blt, kraft mac and cheese, and broccoli for a pasta dish sprinkled with bacon

Wow, what amazing timing! I was craving bacon like mad for the past couple of days, and I rarely eat it. I just happened to buy some yesterday and made a BLT with a generous amount of lettuce and tomato, along with a slice of mozzarella for lunch today. I don’t like eggs, but I love homemade hash browns, and the cabbage with rice, pineapple, and bacon sounds delicious! You’ve given me some ideas to try😊

I'm not giving a whole meal plan, but a meal-stretching tip. I would spend 2-3 dollars on a 5 pound bag of flour. Anyone who bakes a lot of bread probably buys yeast by the pound, so it would be a pantry item. (I have a pound and a half of yeast in my freezer , right now.) Not the most nutritious item, especially white flour. But 5 pounds of all-purpose flour gives you 1180 calories a day, and 32 grams of protein a day. (7 days) Not a diabetic diet, but that bag of flour can stave off hunger pangs. If you don't have yeast by the pound in your pantry, one little quarter-ounce packet can make 8 loaves of no-knead bread, a quarter of a teaspoon of yeast and a long, overnight rise to multiply the yeast. There are you tube videos to teach you to bake simple bread, called no-knead bread. It's a great skill to have, when the store shelves have no bread, or the money is tight.

You can purchase a 3 pack strip for less than $1. And a 5 pound bag of flour is $1.16 where I live but it is expected to go up in price. Flour, salt , water and fat (oil or bacon grease or shortening) combine to make a tortilla dough. Making tortillas from flour takes a work as you have to roll balls of dough as flat as you can get. Then you fry them. Flour, warm water, salt and yeast make a rustic dough for pizza crust or rustic bread. You can use one of the yeast packets of the three pack strip to grow a sourdough starter that you can feed to have dough in the future without buying more yeast. There are options.

I love cabbage, potatoes, add a little bacon. Bean and Bacon Soup. Fried cabbage and potatoes, topped with bacon, bake potatoes. Potatoes with eggs and bacon scramble. The pineapple didn't work for me but balances the nutrition. So I would get onion and garlic, not rice and pineapple. Could even do an omelet or stir fry.

I would swap the pineapple for some bananas or a few carrots. And if I couldn't get the bread (those yummy breads never last at my store haha) I would get a small sack of flour at the dollar tree or something and make tortillas and have tacos. Very good video, lots of good ideas.

😆🤣😂. Oh dear, this video has made me laugh. This week, your $10 is only worth £7.92. It's dropped 3p compared to the last challenge and yes, I had a look at Sainsburys again to compare prices. I've never heard of pineapple tidbits. I'm guessing they're pieces. Unfortunately, the nearest I can get are chunks, a 432g for a £1. Eggs.... bit of a sore point here. Jolly hard to find because of Avian flu. Online it says 12 medium eggs for £2.45 but I know that instore you'd be lucky to find 1/2 a dozen for around £2.15. I could pop over to Lidl and see if they have some. Around £1.99 for 10 but even they don't always have them in. Next, pinto beans, £1.90! Rice, cheapest, 48p for a kilo. I opted for the cheapest cabbage, which is a sweetheart, 67p each. no idea how much it would weigh. Cheapest loaf of bread is 39p and 2.5kg of cheapest potatoes are £1.15. Total amount £8.04! Fortunately, being vegan I can dispense with the eggs and splash out on onions, carrots and mushrooms and still have change to buy one big or two tiny bananas. Oh, and I'd swap the bacon for some tofu. Keep up the good work. Love it.

I love this type of video it makes you stop and think and I always love the way you make your food it's more my style, although I wouldn't eat the bacon I would move it aside I would use the fat for a little flavoring. The one thing that shocked me I haven't bought eggs in two or three weeks but the last price for a dozen eggs with three or more dollars a dozen. I hope they come down by the time I need to buy some more. Great video, God bless you and your family❤
