Our bee club rents an extractor 👏🏻👏🏻 for only $15/day. I think it’s a great idea! It only started a couple of years ago.

That’s a great idea, I bet that’s well used! We use to do the same thing as well.

It’s good as long as there are no diseases being spread from hive to hive….

Great video David!! I definitely agree quality is out the window!!! My family and I no longer eat out. Food is expensive and a lot of fast food no longer tastes good. Good quality tools and equipment is very important to me. Thanks for everything you do for us. And our bee's.

Yay, I had shop class. Woodworking, metal shop, automotive and even home Economics. It definitely rounds you out and gives you a better understanding.

If I'd known how easy swarms were to catch I'd never have bought bees. I built 5 traps. Researched the proper way to load um and have had 100 percent success since I've been trapping bees. It's the most fun part of beekeeping

I agree with you on the disappointment I’m not having as much trades being taught today. I encourage my son to take as much of it as possible as the skills stay with you forever! I work in facilities management and having these basic skills will always come in hand.

Hi David, I agree with you 100% when I was young I have to make my own toys. I was raised on farm now when I came to this country 21 years old I own machine shop with two buildings making very good stuff

Glad you are honest on the price. Hard for people to understand how much it takes to keep bees.
@beek17 сағат бұрын
Yes, it can be quite costly to start out.

$350.00 for a nuc up here in Alberta 🇨🇦 That's why I built 10 swarm traps last winter, no luck yet though 😞

Your right everything to do with bees is pricey I only have 20 hives and it cost me like 10g after I was done and then I still need things it’s all pricey you have to love bees and any money you get you put in the bees so you don’t make money you need many hives to make a good profit

i have purchased unassembled boxes and put them together. i find it fun to do. however, i am very allergic to a lot of trees including pine. i must have touched my face a lot when assembling last time. i broke out in terrible hives all over my face and neck. it was awful. needed prednisone and looked like a leper for a while. long story longer, i will either pay close attention and not touch my face or buy assembled!

I built all of my bee boxes bottom boards top covers inner covers but when it came to building the frames that did not work out well for me I really stink at that

I even watched a video where the person placed a stepladder under the bivuac and put a nuc box on it. then his phone rang. when he got back, the bees had moved into the nuc on their own. it doesn't get much easier then that.

Hello from Oklahoma,,well as in every venture their is a expense! As far as bee 🐝 keepers it is the cheapest so far , well for me anyway lol

I was going to buy a cheap, Chinese copy of the flow hive in Amazon but after watching videos (especially yours) I walked away of that idea, I will get me a 10 frame Lang as my first hive from a local bee store. Why give money to the big guy if I can help locally own businesses, right?

I disagree. You are making it seem like another rich man's game. Yes, if you want state of the art equipment, I'm sure it is very expensive. My table saw cost less than $500 and has served me well for 8 years now. And there are plenty of videos out there that prove bees aren't snobbish about homes ! Bees don't care if the hive has butt joints, or pretty dovetails. Frames can be bought at Rural King for less than $10. each if you don't want to build them. I've built a few using hand tools, and it wasn't complicated, or hard. Not as fast as with nice power tools, but very relaxing and fun. AND extremely satisfying. I'm testing another guy's technique for swarm traps this year by using a few purple totes. He says the purple ones have worked best of any color he's tried. LOL. We'll see ! Where there's a will, there's always a way.

I enjoy your videos, very informative. However, a very good table saw will NOT cost $2,000, Lowes carries contractor grade table saws for under $400. With a support table built around it one can have a fantastic tool. I've seen hive boxes, lids, ect. built with hand tools that would outlast the best commercial equipment out there. It's all a matter of desire and a place to build.
