It seems like these videos just cover general things and when we sign up, we could easily encounter big, unexpected expenses. Who is a trusted person we can talk to about our specific circumstances, *before* we make decisions on how to sign up? Thanks.

This video is useless without the actual income levels changing the premium

Yeah, so I work my whole life paying way more in taxes than most people, way more in SS and Medicare, and still in retirement I pay triple in Medicare than all the people who didn’t prepare as well as I did. Time to end taxes on folks over 65. I deserve some years of not getting jacked around by the government.

Why don't you go over the income levels and the impact to premiums? Very misleading title.
@lespeterson342629 күн бұрын
It'd be helpful to know how much money you can make this year, so it doesn't affect your premium two years down the road… that's what people really need to know! so what I made in 2023 will affect my premium in 2025. How do I know how much that is? Nobody tells anybody or where do you go to find it

You also need to know that if you never use the care insurance and stop it or pass away all that money will not be refunded to you or your estate.

Can you do a Medicare vs Medicaid? I'm not near the age of getting either, but I would like to know a breakdown of the two.

How long do you have to lay the higher premium after you retire?
@AARP14 күн бұрын
Thank you for your question, @ConnieBrown-gu6bb. As each scenario is different, we recommend you to reach out to the Center for Medicare Services (CMS) at 800-MEDICARE (800-633-4227). - DG.

Also does SS/irs review your account and revise automatically? What if your income changed and the item isn’t listed like divorce or death.? Can’t get an answer . Who reviews ? Is it done every year ?
@j.jennings774312 күн бұрын
It is reviewed every 2 years.

Just like most of these “adds”, they provide more questions than answers. But what more can you say in a couple minutes.

Do premiums remain the same or can they be increased if income increases?
@AARP22 күн бұрын
Thank you for your question, @floralscene. The premiums can increase if you are what Social Security considers a “higher-income beneficiary,” you pay more for Medicare Part B, the health-insurance portion of Medicare. Here you can find the full article: spr.ly/6059tplxS - DG.

Why does part b look at income from two years ago ? Then if last year's or the current income are less, we as the recipient need to file the amendments. How convoluted ! Just look at the most recent year tax return. Why is Medicare and the entire insurance industry so convoluted and circuitous ?

If my spouse sells property that will count as income for me ? That will affect my Medicare premium yet the sale has nothing to do with me it’s not my income , I feel it should not have an affect on my Medicare Premium.

Probably

I had that happen to me. It’s considered household income. It will only affect that year of income. Then the IRMA will be taken off the following year. I listen to Ed Weir on KZbin. Solid information.

Useless video without the income levels. I believe the level for 2024 is around $205,000 for married couples. AARP should provide better more accurate videos. Not just click bait.
