Millions of views from around the world is something our small channel never expected and while we have much to be proud of in this, it’s not the most important measure of our success. Over 300 of you have donated to change Marjorie and Tasyana’s lives, and we’ve already set to work with them both. The follow up story will be released this month, showing you all the incredible difference each of you have made. We truly thank you for believing in a world where everyone can help anyone. @mstyles26674 жыл бұрын
This is the dead up truth. People need to stop wasting so much food. The portion sizes are out of control and 'cheap food' means people buy the most they can 'afford'. Its gluttony at it's finest and it needs to stop.

If you think that's bad, those who produce the food waste a whole lot more (the majority). I did some charity work in a place like this in Philippines for a month. The poverty is like nothing I've seen before. We were helping to build a church there, but the locals advised us not to eat with them because the food and even the water might give us stomach issues. So we had separated food. One guy from our group had the local food and ended up in the hospital with severe diarrhea that night. The locals are used to this food and have a tough stomach. Update: I just noticed there has been a lot of talk on my comment. I'm not religious, but my parents are. I respect people with faith as well as non believers. The church gives a community for people and hands out aid. Every sabbath they give out food regardless of the person's participation in the church. Let me tell you that there are more religious organizations that are giving aid in these places than non-relgious. There are good and bad people out there regardless of religion. Let's not judge, and think about how we as individuals are contributing to this world.

When i was homeless and started this job at a resturaunt I had to work my way up from the bottom working as a dishwasher. I was 23 years old living in my car on my own and I didnt have money for the next 2 weeks. One day as me and this other guy were clearing plates I looked at this half eaten burger and fries and stared at it for a bit. I remember thinking how good it looked that I started to pig out on the plate and that sorta became my routine; if the plate looked good and the food was clean enough i would snack on it throughout my shift. I did it so long it felt kinda normal to be honest. Granted that we could get a burger for our lunchbreak it would have been the only thing I would have eaten. The dude working with me told the chefs about it (trying to be sincere i think) and they talked to me about it and felt bad for me. That point on they just looked the other way (no they didn't offer anything extra they just pretended they didn't notice). The feeling I got from doing this was that i was lucky enough to get a full stomach based on these assholes that couldnt finish a plate... Like you're kidding me? The thought of it made me cry every fucking night after my shift until I got my first paycheck.. Im better now but just remembering what I had to go through. I'm in a relationship with a man who's kids are so ungrateful, and I see how food gets thrown it's exagerated. He tells them how other kids wish they had it but they don't seem to care. This woman says even if she don't give them material stuff ,but she can give them an education. Kids who have suffered appreciate things more. Don't you agree?

Winter Ramirez that’s how you get fat. Don’t let the situations of others affect your lifestyle. Sure, be humble. It’s always a virtue. But just because others starve does not mean you should feel the need to be gluttonous. Live your life. Just as they live theirs

There really is a surplus of food in the US honestly but imagine if people in the Philippines thought the same way you did. The sad reality is that they would have nothing to eat. I'm not saying waste food but Instead offer it to the homeless. Just some advice. Peace and love. ✌
@joshlandig34235 жыл бұрын
Maybe you should waste more so that they could have more to eat. Just secure the plastic where u put the food before you leave. Put like if u agree.

When I travelled the Philippines I met these kids who asked for help for some medicine, there was around 8 of them all younger then around 10 or 11 with no parents and no family, they where living off eating garbage and sleeping in a nearby cemetery, the youngest was so sick he could have died if we didn't intervene, when we took him to a hospital we found out that they lost alot of the original kids in there group to illness, honestly makes me feel so blessed to have access to the life I do have, I still think of those boys to this day and wonder if they made it

Thank you for showing the reality of millions of Pilipinos. My people. My favorite quote is, “The things you take for granted, someone else is praying for” precisely because I grew up hearing stories like this daily in the Philippine news and hearing about it from my parents, one of whom was born and raised in Tondo, the very district that these women are from. This story needs so desperately to be heard. However, I wish you had translated what the women said literally instead of paraphrasing and adding/omitting words. Most notably, at 3:00, the woman says, “Hindi naman magbabagong buhay namin hanggat pagkamatay.” The translation you have is “I don’t really see our life changing anytime soon.” Literal translation: Our lives will never change-until we die. Until we die. The power of those words speaks for itself. Thank you again for shedding light on this issue. I am constantly thinking of solutions of how to solve this heartbreaking problem, and I hope one day we will find one.
@VERSEStories5 жыл бұрын
Such a beautiful quote, thanks for sharing it, and thank you for your support. We truly believe that everyone can help anyone, no matter where they are from. Highlighting these issues is not our only aim - the bigger goal is transforming each persons life in every story we tell. We're working on ensuring translations are exactly what is being said, thanks for letting us know.

This brought me to tears... I forgot how the society I grew up in doesn't see food like they do. We waste it and move on with out lives without a care in the world... Last week I was in Korea drinking and eating like there was no tomorrow. From Caviar to Chumeuk. I went on an eating spree thinking I had to try everything so I ate wastefully in order to eat more food. I feel so bad... I'm back in Australia now, and after watching this, I feel so bad because poverty is real. I haven't really seen it like how this video portrays the slums but the world is not balanced, or in a way it is, to have rich people there must always be the poor. To feel good, bad must exist. I donate every now and then to the homeless and to the famine, but even I don't have enough money to give to everyone. If you're reading this and you are able to give. Please do it. Think of the last time you wasted food...it makes you feel bad doesn't it? Instead of just saying how you feel bad for these people, why not make a change and feel good about yourself so that others can also live a better life. If you're unable to give due to personal reasons or you just don't feel like it, nothing wrong at all. But remember that food is important too and we shouldn't waste it by buying excessively and throwing it away, instead, if you can't finish your meal, don't buy too much, save the change and give it as a tip to the charity bucket at McDonald's, or just save it for yourself.
