Have you taken the chance and did something in spite of the odds, fears and worries you had about it? Love to hear your story.

Hi Gavin, this video just popped up for me, and as a 'just over 50' person planning on a YT channel about my interest, this was motivating to me. I've watched and read and listened to the 'Start NOW' challenges, and am still yet to start due to all the other things going on. BUT I have started my blog.

I had the same crossroads in my life, realizing going back to a 9-5 job just wasn’t for me. Entrepreneurship is the way to go and the best part is it’s more accessible as an option to us than ever before!

@@melaniegriesemer thanks for your comment and yes, I have to agree with you about entrepreneurship. There is so much out there and it’s a matter of finding what works and what people need. Good luck on your journey!

I turned 41 on July 1st, and lost my IT job few months prior. I hated doing it but I did and have my house paid off and some money in the bank. I had finally landed an IT job where it wasnt insanely busy or soul sucking and since I had 16-17 years of experience, nothing fazed me and it was paying me handsomely. I could also work from anywhere so I spent few months in '21 travelling across India and working. But now that I have lost that job, now I am lost. I don't want to go back to IT working in any other company cos I know how it is. Figuring out what I can do which I'll have to do for a few more years till I can accumulate enough wealth so I can invest and permanently retire. This helps cos I could identify with you.

You've said a lot of interesting things. I know what it means to "feel lost". Truth is, it is not lost but rather that an old path has ended and now some time is needed to create a new one.....and the road ahead is wide open, albeit scary to the mind. Secondly, where did you travel in India? I lived there for 10 years studying meditation in the Himalayas. I was in HP. That was also part of the reason I felt "lost" when my India journey had to end, I felt like I had to find a new road.

Great video. To answer your question, "...how is your youtube journey going?". It's been tough for me. I will be 50 myself in less than a year. I started YT as a hobby and now I am truly considering giving it 100% of my time. I was recently layed off from a 28 year career job and have been struggling to find a new job. It has been 60 days since I was played off and I have lost count of the 100s of job applications I have submitted. Over the last few weeks, with newly found free time, I have worked at publishing a minimum of 3 videos per week on YT. I finally hit the 500 subscriber threshold, but find my videos lacking in views. I have a few videos that have done really well, mostly product reviews, but I don't want to be a channel focused on product reviews. My channel is more about me vlogging my time spent outdoors. There are many similar channels to mine that have a strong following, and I am struggling to figure out how to get to their level. I guess it's going to take more research on my part. Any advice is greatly appreciated. subscribed

I really appreciate you taking the time to share your story and the journey you've been on. I took a look at your channel and will drop you an email when I have time this weekend to sit down and compose my thoughts as opposed to just posting here which is somewhat informal. You've got a good thing going and I'll be happy to help you get more views. Stay tuned!
