HOW KZbin HAS SHAPED MY LUXURY HANDBAG COLLECTION OVER THE YEARS
Before I started watching KZbin my luxury handbag collection was pretty playful yet practical and at a price point that was 'sensible' for my experience.
As I started to watch KZbin I bought a lot of pieces I thought I should have and most of those have left my collection as they just were not right for me, when I look back at these pieces I see how easy it is to get caught up in the hype.
As a KZbinr, I've found my place, my zone, my style and aesthetic and it is so obvious to me now that pre- watching KZbin and being a KZbinr - there are similar attributes, I'm just more fierce now with both style and budget!

This was such a cool video to watch! I loved taking a tour of how your collection has evolved pre KZbin and beyond. If I had to give an arc for my own journey as YT viewer, I think pre YT I was about interesting shapes, colors, cool one of a kind pieces but not really luxury based EXCEPT for Burberry (which was my gateway drug as well). Watching YT definitely influenced me to buy some mainstream luxury pieces but they passed through my collection quickly because they weren’t me. I can also say I “upped” my level of what I was looking at and focused more on luxury design houses, but truthfully I started to find that boring. So now I am back to looking at what catches my eye, unique, different, with no “requirement” that it be luxury - only that it’s what I think is cool and works for me.

I really enjoyed this video. This is one of my favorite videos that you've done. It made me reflect on my collection and how youtube has shaped it. I remember getting my first luxury piece in 2018 before I started getting into the luxury side of youtube. I got the LV business cardholder in black empriente leather. I still have it, but I don't use it as much these days. I remember I started watching more luxury youtube videos in 2019. I loved watching videos about the LV pochette metis. I never got this bag, and I'm glad I didn't. I only bought black/nuetral bags because I was heavily influenced by youtubers. At one point I was also really into the LV Scott box and the Kirigami set. I watched a lot of videos about people loving them and using conversion kits to use them as bags in 2020. I ended up selling them along with a few other peices that I was inspired to get. While some luxury purchases worked, I decided to take a break from buying luxury handbags. I was in my early 20s when I started watching luxury youtubers. I felt like I needed to figure out my personal style before I continue to buy more expensive handbags. I realized that I thought so many luxury handbags were beautiful, but these pieces didn't necessarily work for me. I purchased more contemporary bags while I learned more about my likes and dislikes. I continued to watch luxury youtube as I discovered my personal style. I started to enjoy watching people with more unique handbag collections like yourself. I learned that luxury doesn't have to be so serious. I still have my favorite black bags, but I starterd exploring color. I learned what colors work and don't work for me. I'm not a fan of red and orange bags. I love lilac and tiffany blue! I like pink, but I had to realize that I don't like every shade of pink. I also learned that I don't wear totes unless I'm going to work and I need a bigger bag for my lunch. The bag still has to fit in a locker, so I tend to just use a canvas bag. Sometimes I'll even wear the tote with a small crossbody that's more fun. Now I realize that I wouldn't purchase a structured luxury tote because I wouldn't get much use out of it. Now that I'm in my late 20s, I feel like I have a better sense of what my personal style is. I don't see myself ever having a huge luxury collection, but I really enjoy the pieces that I have. I get so excited everytime I use pieces like my Hermès mauve sylvestre cardholder and Bulgari bucket bag. I still enjoy watching luxury youtubers. I also love seeing how collections evolve over time.

Thank you for sharing! We have a similar view on bags. I’ve always considered luxury bags and to an extent shoes as pieces of art that need to represent my taste and esthetic. The very few times I purchased “popular” items I ended up feeling so strange trying to wear them. They just didn’t suit. My collections seems eclectic but it is 100% me. There’s only one bag that still isn’t me - it’s an Hermes bag of course. But I refuse to sell it because well, I doubt I’ll ever buy one again and it’s my expensive reminder to stay true to me.

Hi Dayle! I have been a KZbin viewer for quite some time now. I would say I was definitely influenced in venturing into luxury. Prior to seeing all these goods, I always viewed them as out of reach. But the more I watched some youtubers, the more I felt I could save up and treat myself too. It started with shoes, bags, accessories and some higher end ready-to-wear. Over the course of about five years, I have built a small capsule collection I am very happy about and mix it with mid-range ready-to-wear (which is more in my daily budget) 😊 Loved to see your style journey! x
