Seth, It was a great show Sunday when you had Jack Carlson on. I have not seen Jack in quite a few years play hockey against Jack and the Brothers 1973 Golden Valley ice Center. all three of them on one line they were playing for the junior Bruins I was playing for the Minneapolis Blazers. Glad to see he’s doing well. We’re starting to get up there in age, but that league was the best league around back then and it was a tough league, it was a lot of fun I think ifJack heard my name he’d know who I was

Seth, my friend Shane is a scout for the Flyers and he said they weren't taking Zeev @ 12. (But that doesn't mean another team wasn't going to do what the Wild did, and trade with them for tge pick)

Trav, watched another podcast and they saw the St.Louis table stirring. I think they thought the Blues were trying to jump them to 12. That is why they just threw in the 3rd rounder and grabbed him. Calculated risk if they had waited..

So my two favorite teams are Detroit and Minnesota. I want Perron to re-sign in Detroit. I don't see him really helping Minnesota at all, but I appreciate his intangibles in Detroit, it's a good fit for him there. With the Wild and their cap issues and where they are as a team, I don't see Perron moving the needle at all for them.

Yeah, I think you got a future great one in Buium. I was paying attention to SJ's draft and didn't think Zeev would be there, but I had a feeling after Sennecke went #3 to Anaheim that this was going to be a different year as some forwards were going to shoot up the draft board and effects a cascade of defensemen to fall further down the board. Usually it's the other way around where big defensemen who can skate and put up some points get drafted earlier than their mocked draft position. But I thought Dickinson might fall down the board and if he was there at 11 for SJ's pick, I figured they were going to prioritize his size and skating and perceived two-way ability over Buium if both were there. Sure enough they did. I can't say that I know how Sam D will end up developing but after years and years of watching a lot of hockey, watching Buium in the NCAA playoffs.. he just looks special out there. After watching hockey for so long, you notice the overall on-ice body language of a defenseman and how it reflects his mental poise, or lack thereof, out on the ice in different situations. I don't often agree with Craig Button's comparisons of players coming up, but I think the one he made of Buium to Scott Niedermeyer is a pretty apt one. I haven't seen a dman coming out of the draft who seems like he has ice in his veins like Buium does in a long time. He has the most important attributes for a dman which are of the mental variety. He's always under control, he can process the game quicker than almost anyone with great vision, and he can skate well enough to control the flow of the game when his team needs him to. He has such incredible edges and evasion ability that he can settle things down when his team is playing out of control and help get them composed again. I think Buium has that special of an ability to backstop a team deep into the playoffs. I'm a guy who likes my defensemen big, especially if they can also skate, but I don't feel the same level of confidence that Dickinson pans out as I do about Buium hitting on his upside. Buium has areas to improve, like all draft picks, but he already possesses the most important mental attributes of a top level dman that are a still a question mark in guys like Dickinson.

Yes, and more proof that no elite/legit UFA would/will ever come to MN. Hell, Matt Duchene signed for less than Trenin and Duchene had 25 goals 40 assists.

The Mild have devolved into a "mutt team" with yet another clueless GM hired by a failed, moronic ownership. When the two teams in "hockey mad" Florida (Ha!) vastly outclass the dismal franchise in Minnesota you know there's no hope until the current idiot owner is forced to sell (how? I don't know) or drops dead. With any other club the most recent #1 pick, Buium, would have a bright future but with the Mild his career is already on the skids and all but over unless he refuses to sign a contract and holds out until he's shipped off somewhere else. And you can kiss Kaprisov goodbye. That's a kid who wants to win and it's not going happen with the Mild. A sharp, competent agent would already have advised him that his NHL future lies elsewhere.
