This phone isn't plastic. The body is metal with a few plastic accents.

Just an opinion on your drop test, the wooden surface the phone drop onto kind of minimizes the impact the phone receives, it will be great if you could change it with cement or tiles to simulate most of the outdoor environments. Great video by the way!

Great job. The best and most realistic tests I've seen so far. I would suggest setting the drop to be at maybe 45 degree angles for the face up and downs to "force" it to land that way even though looking at the tests, they seem to already land somewhat at an angle already.

I've had mine a year and the cracked camera has lived with me for that time. It dropped out of the car and the camera ring hit the edge of the pavement. You can buy a replacement part for £2.50 and fitting is easy. Apart from that, I've dropped it countless times and it's barely got a scratch

TheGuess2D So did I, be it not 50 but some 30 times. Occasionally on concrete. Drop #31 broke the glass. It was not the hardest hit: on my concrete terrace tiles, from a heigth of at most 50cm. There is more to it than momentum and hardness of the landing strip. Also where the blow comes, and the shape (sharp/blunt). Just like the glass of a car. Difficult to break, even with the hamner designed only to do just that. Unless you know where to hit.

You should make a small concrete slab to simulate dropping on a sidewalk or parking lot. The rough texture should make a difference

As feedback i think you should add more chaos to your drop test. As in a normal everyday incident. For example, topping down a cement staircase while texting, etc.

Planning to get this phone in the UK. But I'm worried and almost getting mad knowing that it only has nano coating and when water gets in the ports (including speakers and mic) this thing will get damaged. So could u please tell me confidently and definitively that with a water test you found no moisture or condensation (or if you tried re doing the test) and the phone is still working? please advise. thanks.

Tests like these are stupid. It's glass it's going to break if you drop it, especially on a hard surface like concrete. No phone has a shatterproof screen except ones with plastic screens.
@bryaneaton91587 жыл бұрын
proper crash tests are done to show how durable it is, how MUCH it can take to break it, not IF it will break. but yes, this is stupid. not very many youtubers understand how to do proper durability tests
@Tonytestcase6 жыл бұрын
The reverse is true: plastic is *less* likely to get shattered in a typical drop accident, than glass, *because* it is softer. That is one of the 2 main reasons why so many drinking `glasses`, bottles, optics in spectacles are plastic. The other reason is personal safety: broken glass parts can be more than razor-sharp. Plastic pieces only cause harm under a lot of force. Plastic phone screens? I 've never had one on a touchscreen phone. Plastic is too soft for even swiping finger tips. So they use glass. Hard glass, to extremely hard. Back to the concrete floor drop: *any glass screen* hitting a concrete surface is very much a chance event. That is because of the irregularity of concrete, also at the surface, both in hardness and sharp edges. And glass, when under a bending force, only needs a scratch some micrometers deep, to split all the way. Just think of tiny flint parts on the road, that damage wind screens every day.
@Tonytestcase6 жыл бұрын
Breaking is not a form of wear. A screen either breaks on impact, or it doesn't. The outcome of a drop is matter of chance, there is no relation to how many times it was hit before. In vivo, that is. You can probably break your screen with one finger, if you stick a small diamond to your nail first and hit the screen on the right spot.
@wolfy47346 жыл бұрын

The g5 plus actually isn't plastic, but rather it is made from metal. The regular g5 however, is plastic.
